One of the best SNES games comes to the Wii Virtual console

User Rating: 9.5 | Super Metroid SNES
If you haven't played this game in the SNES, but like games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, you owe yourself to play what started the great run of exploration games. The satisfaction of finding items to help you progress, the diversity of enemies based on the levels you explore, shooting and bombing every little corner to find a hidden path make this game very entertaining. The BGM helps a lot to set the mood, the graphics look awesome for the 16-bit era, and the boss fights are very memorable. There are elements of this game still found in games today; it's that good.

This game isn't for everyone, though. If you get tired of being in the same area, or you don't know where to go or what to do, the game slows down almost to a stop. Backtracking is a necessity, and you'll be going through the same parts at least two times during the game. It's worthwhile to write notes on a notepad of what you found and correlate it to your map, so you don't forget to get whatever it was you know you left behind.
I found it good enough to play again in the Virtual console; I hope that if you've played it, you'll feel the same way. If you haven't played it, but like exploration games, I believe it's a must-have in your collection.
