Super Mario World (Super Nintendo) is a pack-in for the ages and one of my favorite Super Mario Bros games!

I have been a good boy. I was promised a Super Nintendo by my Mom if I behaved AND got straight A's on my report card. Who says video games interfere with getting a proper education. I kept my behavior in check and worked hard in school to get my reward: A Super Nintendo w/Super Mario World. Thank You Mom!

Do you remember the first time you hooked up the Nintendo 8-bit and saw Super Mario Bros up and running on your TV? didn't think you'd ever have that magic feeling again? well, I remember the feeling and I had the same feeling when Super Mario World came on the TV!

You could not part me from this game. I was playing it CONSTANTLY. It was just love at first play. COLORFUL graphics, UPBEAT music, this game is a complete package. You get Shigeru Miyamoto and Koji Kondo at the same time!

The game is HUGE! 72-96 levels with hidden secrets aplenty! it is side scrolling bliss and it is Super Mario at his best. It all started on the first world map for me and then eventually meeting Yoshi!

Yoshi is your companion and a big help. You can ride him, eat enemies, and he even comes in many different colors with unique abilities.

The power-up I loved the most is the Cape Feather! the first time I saw Mario in a cape my imagination took flight, literally. So, all you have to do is run and up, up, and away. Like the leaf in Super Mario Bros 3! Wanna stay up in the air? you can use the air to bounce to the air current. Wanna attack? DIVE BOMB the competition and like a bullet shot out of a gun you'll hit the ground and unleash devestation. It was nice to have a backup mushroom, fire flower, or feather just in case you got that annoying hit! it was very helpful and useful.

Nothing prepared me either seeing the GIANT Bullet Bill for the first time! talk about a WOW! moment (truth be told I might have died the first time seeing him because I was just stunned!) a cool enemy!

Of course I enjoy certain areas of the game and the Ghost House is way up there as far as graphics and fun. Seeing Big Boo for the first time as well and I knew that this was a step up from the previous 8-Bit efforts. The 16-Bit Era has arrived. I love the haunting music from Koji Kondo and can hear it in my head even as I write this! another part I liked is the special Star World. The music there was very enchanting as is the area of the game and, according to Wikipedia.org it is a variation of the Starman music. I loved the sound effects (especially when you are in a cave and can hear the echoes)

Updated music! you'll get a taste of that when you swim underwater. I recognized the theme the minute it came on and really couldn't believe what I was hearing! I mean how COOL is this?! VERY!

I enjoyed taking out the Koopa Kids in their various castles and seeing the different victory animations that went along with them. Enjoyed the Rhino bosses on the spinning wheel (they were fun)

I completed this game every way you can. Super Mario World isn't demanding but, you demand yourself to find EVERY little secret it holds. You see invisible blocks you wonder how you can fill them and when you finally hit the blue, red, green, or yellow switch you can't help but feel satified that you now have opened up the game a little bit more.

It is addictive. The enemies are brilliant (love running away from a football-helmeted turtle) and the game is really FUN!

And that is what the game is all about. It is the next step up in a series that is LEGENDARY! it is love pure and simple. If I were to make a list of video games you must play before you die (hmm, not a bad idea) this game would be at the top of the list.

Granted, there are all kinds of games Mario is in now whether he is kart racing, golfing, playing baseball, soccer, tennis, or whatever we can't forget this game in particular as being a very important part of Super Mario and his evolution.

So, if you still own the Super Nintendo and this game I am sure you are enjoying it (I know I would be if I still had my stuff that got LEFT BEHIND!) I do give this game a "10" because that is what it is. A perfect game in every possible away!
