Using Mario 64's blueprint, Super Mario Sunshine is an excellent GameCube debut for Nintendo's superstar.

User Rating: 10 | Super Mario Sunshine GC
Highs: Extremely fun, sublime controls, epic boss battles, very cool locations to see, this game will make you want to play it again after you've beaten it.

Lows: Cheap deaths, Mega Man/Contra-difficult, kind of ridculous plot.

Verdict: One of the most underrated A+ gems for the GameCube.

After the epic awesomeness of Super Mario 64, how could Nintendo keep the greatness going? By releasing Super Mario Sunshine for the GameCube in 2002, a game that uses the Mario 64 blueprint to it's fullest potential. You play as Mario, who has been wrongly convicted for covering an island town in deadly grafitti, as he and his companion, Fludd - Mario's special weapon which is a water spray-tank backpack - must clean up the town and find Bowser, who is as always the main villain, who set Mario up, and bring him to justice and prove his innocence. Controling Mario is the same like Mario 64, as you will get used to the controls easily, and using Fludd is no problem either, as you just use the R button to spray water, and press A and R to hover in the air for a short time. If Fludd runs out of water, go to any water supply and fill him up. Mario Sunshine is a fantastic game, but there are some flaws. There are some stages that are too pointlessly difficult, and can lead to a lot of cheap deaths, which explains this game's difficulty as it is one of the hardest Mario games, and that the challenge is for real in this game. The plot is a little stupid too, as Mario is taken to court, he isn't even given a fair trial, as the judge just declares Mario guilty without any concrete evidence saying that he did it!! But, still Super Mario Sunshine is a great game anyway. One of the most underrated A+ gems on the GameCube, and is totally worth picking up for a few bucks. Don't miss out on an underappreciated classic.
