Super Mario is back and is off to scour the stars for the kidnapped princess peach... again!

Its only fair that if i review Super Mario Galaxy 2, i should review its daddy known as Super Mario Galaxy! Released in 2007, the game was super popular and was subject to 2007's most best-selling game for the Wii. This game had only one purpose in mind: to be amazing and to be better than Super Mario Sunshine. I'd say it succeeded.

When you put the game into the Wii illuminated slot, you get the yelling of Mario shouting: SUPER MARIOOOO GALAXY!, which is enough to make you both faint and excited. Still, when it loads up, there's a dramatic fanfare and you get 6 planet "profiles" to choose from. Choose one of them and choose you icon. I chose Luigi as he gets a bad knack these days for being quite clumsy. And of course, when you start to play, your instantly greeted by an interactive movie, in which you run around collecting the falling star bits and greeting toads. now i'm not gonna reveal too much here, but peach, as usual, gets kidnapped, as usual (despite her useless toad guards protecting her), and of course Mario runs after her, fails and falls.

When you wake up, your on a planet surrounded by rabbits. then, you play an intergalactic game on hide and seek while some rather playful music plays in the background*, eventually, your taken to meet Rosalina, who watches over everything.

The game succeeded at being better than SM Sunshine as it was, well, quite alot better to be honest. The graphics are nothing to poked at, when viewing in the maximum quality, they look rather good and its nothing to knock about. The entire gameplay for Super Mario Galaxy is brilliant, you get some classic power ups while getting some new ones as well. The Ice flower is one of them and so's the Bee Mushroom. The classic power-ups consist of the good 'ol Fire Mario and.... well, that's about it really.

The game relies on you collecting power stars and Grand stars, to power the space ship and, inevitably, save princess peach for the billionth time. but i never get bored of it. The one thing i hate about this game is the Prankster comets, they're sole purpose is to make your life as difficult as possible, by adding a new environment to an already completed level.

Besides that, Super Mario Galaxy has also got some excellent music in its arsenal. This'll probably the only game in 2011 i'll give a full 0 out of 10 to, simply because of the gameplay and the music that goes along with it!
