Mario and Tom take on Bowser in this video review for Super Mario Galaxy 2.
To hell with all these new games, I'm going back to complete this again.
This review just reminded me of how flipping great it was.
I find mentioning MW3 in the same sentence as SMG2 offensive. That piece of recycled crap has nothing on the GOTG.
@hiphops_savior The only difference between Super Mario and Call of Duty is that we get Mario once every 2 years and Call of Duty every year.
@GTA-Like_Fan Just the 4 first Mario games werew AWSOME and EPIC everything that came later was just recycled crap from previous games.
I played a lot on SNES. I tried and didnt liked Mario 64 and I havent played any after cause I dont buy Nintendo. Epic may not have been the best word. What I meant is that they are still able to create games on an old not so special concept and character and make it a best seller with a score of 9 - 10.
Thats it I have figured it out, Tom Mcshea is bias towards Mario. He gives this a 10 (which I think it deserves). But then gives Skyward Sword (a beautiful master piece) a 7.5. Really?
Mario FTW! Can't wait for Super Mario 3D Land but this can tide me over! :D LOVE LIVE KING MARIO!!! :D :D :D
I don'tlike platform games much and only came here to see why it got a 10 but even I have to admit this game looks amazing and definitely deserves a really good rating.
@NeilCardiff A good rating? Maybe...A 10 out of 10? Not
@iAsSsH Mario was king, but today I treat Mario like CoD, a recycled piece of crap. And I really hope that Nintendo soon updates Mario because I miss those old Mario games that entertained me for months.
This game is incredible and one of the reasons I got a Wii in the first place. The level designs and originality is impressive and it is never trying to be something that it isn't. The only thing I hate though is the whole Wii control system. I hate the fact it is so reliant on sitting there with the remote pointing at the screen. This gives me an aching arm well before I get tired of playing. Also, this and many other platformers are reliant on movements of the remote to perform certain actions (definitely could have been avoided but added as a 'show-off' gimmick of the Wii's features). The inaccuracy of the sensor had me dying unnecessarily as I shook the remote frantically to make floor sections move or spin into enemies to no avail. This was both with and without 'Wii motion plus' so nothing to do with my Wii or the remote used. This was extremely frustrating but due to the game being so perfect in itself, I still played on. Maybe not worth 10 but deservent in the sense that it is a benchmark for all to follow and probably none will match.
@Jedimg: True, but I think in those cases, even though it was the best, it wasn't that reviewer's definition of the pinnacle of entertainment. In general, though, reviewers are variously strict in terms of 10s. I've only given three myself, while a friend of mine has given out over ten of them. I guess it's a matter of preference.
@calvinsora All i'm saying is that there have been many games before this one which have been considered the bast in their genres and they still didn't get a 10/10
@Jedimg: That is not the definition of a 10. Not just in my opinion, you can look at the score directory of GS and you'll see that that's not how they gauge a 10, and not how any reviewer gauges a 10, really. A linear score distribution means that every score on that line is reachable: from 10 to 0. If 10 were impossible, it wouldn't be a valid score system. This is the pinnacle of its genre, thus it gets a 10.
10/10 is a very biased score imo. That's usually a score that fans of a certain game pick when rating it, but a reviewer giving any game a 10/10 score is just silly. I've never played the game and most likely never will, but I honestly don't think that there's ever going to be a flawless product (and 10/10 means just that - flawless, which I highly doubt is the case). And being revolutionary doesn't justify the score either (e.g. Diablo 2 - completely changed its genre and an amazing sequel but even that game didn't get 10/10; Baldur's Gate 2, just like SMG2, was a sequel to an excellent game, perfected everything in the RPG genre (for that time anyway) and that too didn't recieve a 10/10 score). I'm not saying those games should have gotten a max score, I'm saying that this game shouldn't have recieved one.
