With the release of the original Super Mario Galaxy a year earlier, how would Nintendo be able to top their own creation? They went back to the drawing board, and brought us a more polished, fully realized sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2, released for the Wii in 2010. In Galaxy 2, you play as Mario, as he is on a mission to rescue Princess Peach, and stop Bowser from ruling the galaxy. Rejoining his Luma pals, and with Luigi and Yoshi joining along as well, Mario & crew are about to kick some ass once again! Playing SMG2 is similar to it's predecessor, so you should have no problem getting used to the controls as they are still as good as ever. The music is better than the original as you gather lots of different emotions from each tune, and each song is very memorable. The graphics are still excellent, and almost as good as what you see on the Xbox 360. The stage design is still very good, as each stage packs all sorts of different challenges waiting for you. Some characters are very funny as they have some pretty cute jokes of their own as well. Also in SMG2, you can play as Luigi on some stages as well! It gives you the option to switch between Mario and Luigi, and when you beat the game, Luigi is automatically made a playable character, and you can play each stage with him. The stage select screen is more simple as it is designed after a past mario game like SMB3 or Super Mario World, making it easier for Starship Mario to go to certain stages. After you beat the game, there is a bonus world filled with challenging stages. The boss battles are as fun as they were in the first game, giving you time to figure out how to beat each boss and figure out their patterns so you can beat them. Galaxy 2's replay value is higher than the original's, as I found myself playing this more than any other Wii game. It is very difficult to find problems with Galaxy 2, it actually is pretty much flawless. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a wonderful game to own. Copies of SMG2 have gotten a little pricey on Amazon, with prices up in the $30-40 range, you can pick it up at GameStop too but it's likely to cost ya around $50 for a copy. Hey, if it's not broke, don't fix it, and that's what has kept Mario going strong all these years, so screw all those haters who think all Mario games are all the same. SMG2 is arguably the best Wii game of all time, and a must have for any Wii owner. Play it.
