Best of three worlds

User Rating: 10 | Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt / World Class Track Meet (/w Power Set Bundle) NES
The set of three that was packaged with the NES was the final and best pack-in compilation for NES. I’ll review all 3 separately. First we have Super Mario Bros. the breakthrough hit that brought video games back from an industry crash. You take control of Mario and Luigi (player 2) and you must battle goombas, koopa-troopas, buzzy beetles, cheep-cheeps, hammerhead bros., bullet bills and more to reach the castles to try and save the princess from Bowser but to your dismay the princess is never in the castle and you save the toadstool people instead until you reach world 8 where the final showdown awaits but to get there you must run, jump, throw fireballs, and warp through water, sky, land, darkness, brightness, snow, fair-weather and more while collecting coins and powerups. Your final fight with Bowser is almost the same as the rest except he uses the full arsenal but same way to get through. Your reward for rescuing the princess is holding the button to restart with most enemies upgraded to buzzy beetles. Second we have Duck Hunt, a port of an arcade game known as Duck Hunt VS. this beauty of a game uses the NES light gun better known as the Zapper. You have two main modes to choose from Duck Hunt and Clay Shooting. In Duck Hunt you can choose # of ducks and # of alternating players, in Clay Shooting you choose # of alternating players. The only problem with the game is the dog that laughs at you but if you are good you won’t have to worry. I myself enjoy clay shooting more but it gets increasingly hard as time passes. Third and finally we have World Class Track Meet which takes advantage of the little used accessory the Nintendo Power Pad. The Power Pad is a large plastic padded mat that has buttons you run on (think of it like the great gandpappy of DDR) there are many different events such as hurdles, long jump, 100yrd dash and more! You can play alone or with a friend. Unfortunately, as fun as it is you will always look like a jack-ass while using it.
