One of the best of the series

User Rating: 8.9 | Super Mario Bros. 3 NES
SMB3 was a solid game that did not disappoint. The new graphics and gameplay features added a strong game system that some people recommend is the greatest Mario game of them all.

In this one, you can play as Mario and Luigi, and the goal is as it is most of the time, save the princess. Each world is guarded by a Koopa kid and you must get through the stages to reach the castle. In between, you collect items, go through mid castles, and possibly find ways to skip ahead through worlds.

One of the strong points of this game is the replay value. You can always take different roads. One feature that would have been nice is a save feature. Instead, you have to save with an emulator or simply leave your tv on until you come back.

While it is leaps and bounds better than the previous installment, I cannot give it a perfect rating. The save feature would have been crucial for a perfect rating, except if you can beat it in under 10 minutes. Also, the graphics and sound are good, but nowhere near perfect. Nonetheless, SMB3 is a stellar game with hours and hours of fun at your fingertips.
