The black sheep of the franchise, but is it all that bad? Actually no!

SMB2 is a game that you can't seem to put down, even if it has flaws.

Basically, this game ISN'T actually the real SMB2 (if you've been hiding in a cave, then froze yourself in a cryogenic chamber). The game is actually a small remake of the game "Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic!", which as nothing to do with the Mario Franchise. Which explains why there aren't any earlier enemies from the original game, whu you can't crush enemies by stomping on them, and you have to throw vegies which you pull from the ground. The REAL SMB2 is known in the U.S.A is "SMB2 The lost levels", which was sacked in the United States because the game was deemed too hard, and just a more advanced rip-off of the original.

Now back to the actual review.

Graphics have vastly improved over the orginal SMB.

Controls are firm, y'know, you move, jump, and throw crap. But throwing can be really touchy, and you often throw the turnip you just ripped out of the ground way above the enemy's head.

Gameplay is way different, you throw stuff, can't crush enemies, and have a mini-boss (Birdo) at the end of each stage.

Sound is good. You'll find enemy sounds and all that, but there are some level songs that will stick in your head for days.

To wrap things up. This game is solid, but strays away from the original game engine for some. If you remeber playing this game as a kid, like my parents did, get this game. If you're hardcore, and want something is is really incredibly hard that is remeniscent of the orginal SMB, get the lost levels.

* Sorry to some people if my review seems like it focuses more on the Lost levels that the game here. I didn't mean to write it that way. Sorry.
