Wether your playing Super Mario Bros. 2 or Doki Doki Panik, it's still a good game

User Rating: 8.5 | Super Mario USA NES
Yes, SMB 2 is very different from SMB 1 in almost every way, but that doesn't make it bad.

Story: Mario has a dream where a voice pleads for his help. The voice says that the villain, Wart, has taken over Subcon, the land of dreams. Mario has to defeat Wart by using vegetables.

Controls: SMB 2 has some very different controls from the first. You jump with A, You pick enemies and objects up by jumping on the enemy or object and pressing B. If you where used to the controls on SMB 1, then playing SMB 2 was weird and more complicated. After you got the controls down though, then it's hard to stop playing.

Characters: SMB 2 lets you pick from four characters, Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad, with abilities of their own. Even though there are four characters, there is no option for multiplayer which is a big set back because in the first SMB you could play two player with two characters. The enemies are completely different from SMB 1.

Graphics/Presentation: SMB 2 has pretty good graphics, better than SMB 1, and great for the year 1988, so no dissapointment here.

Comments: SMB 2 has some qualities that make it good, like the controls for example. However, the story wasn't the best in my opinion and the no multiplayer option was a big set back for the game. Even without the multiplayer though, SMB 2 is a very addicting game that I'm glad I own.
