Mario's NES games emulating for SNES and the addition of Super Mario World on 1 cartridge makes this an awesome package.

All 4 made their debuts on the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. With that system officially "dead" and the birth of the "Super" Nintendo Entertainment System, the gaming guru needed to come up with something to make their console sell like hotcakes.

Enter "Super Mario All-Stars" in August 1, 1993. The same 4 Super Mario games from the NES days, emulated to fit the more powerful SNES. With more colorful 16-bit graphics, enhanced music and a save function (cause we all knew there was an area in either one of these games that you hated), this was truly a great compilation remake package for the Italian plumber.

But Nintendo were not done yet. Super Mario World debut in 1991 and received a ton of positive reviews. So what does Nintendo do? Take the same 4 games they remade, added Super Mario World to the mix (along with updating Luigi's sprite to give him an identity) and sold it along with the Super Nintendo. FIVE Mario games in one cartridge for free with purchasing of a Super Nintendo? You couldn't go wrong with that deal back in 1994.

Sadly, this cartridge and the compilation are extremely difficult to find in this day and age. The best way to find these games are by downloading them all in their original format from the Wii's Virtual Console or emulators. It would be good to see these remakes resurface again in all of their SNES glory though.
