Perhaps the weakest of the Mario Advanced titles.

User Rating: 6.2 | Super Mario Advance GBA
It's a relief to know that the other Mario Advanced titles get better. However, if you're new to the Mario games, you might as well start off with the "first" game (for the GBA, anyway). The controls are basic: jump, run, pick stuff up, etc, but what brings this game down is its lack of power ups outside of the expected mushroom and invincible stars.

The basic story line is alright, but I was slightly disappointed to find that Bowser was nowhere to be found, along with his minions, the basic enemies the the Mario series are known for. Otherwise, nothing takes away from the gameplay, which can be slightly frustrating, especially if you're used to the Super Mario World (Mario Advanced 2) controlling.

Like most other games in general, the secret levels, warps, and other stuff are only cool for bragging rights. And once you beat the game once or twice, you start getting used to the flow and can go through the entire game in under an hour.

So, this is a pretty alright game for a long car ride, but I'm sure that others will like the latter Mario GBA games better.
