Great remake of a classic landmark game.
Now about eight years later nintendo remade the classic the only question is is it as good or even better than the original.The answer is sadly no but make no mistake mario 64 ds is a must buy for any fan of the original game or a new comer.
Super mario 64 open almost the same way as the original game did,with princess peach inviting mario to the castle for some nice cake.but this time mario is not the only hero invited with him come Lugi and Wario they all go inside the castle and beasiclly vanish.Later yoshi wakes up and goes to look for them only to find that theythe castles guards the (toads) and the princess have been trapped inside walls.Now it is up to yoshi to find Mario Luigi and Wario.
The game plays the same as the original did you will still jump into paintings and there you will complete objectives and then be rewarded with a star.Most of the courses remeind unchanged.
there have been small alternateve objectives but for the most part the game is pretty much the same.Now the big change is that there are 30 stars more than the original now there are 150 stars instead of the normal 120. also a huge change is now that you can play as Luigi Yoshi and Wario.instead of just mario whitch is one of the games biggest weakness,more on that later.The game has improved graphices.wise the textures are a bit more pixaleted but the game looks better than the original. that said the game has a few issues.
First of all switching the charecters is a pain its increadably frustrating to make it near the end of the level only to realise that you have to exit the leve switch to another character.and then start over.game also controls are not very good its not very responsive moving with the d-pad and holdin the b button to run.The cmaera is also quite annoying.you wont be dying because the game is hard or anything you will mostly be dying because of the camera and the bad controls.
There is now a map system on the lower screen showing where the star is located its a nice little bonus fot those hwo are stuck.
also a nice bonus is the minigames in the rec room. When you beat the game whitch can take you up to 8-20 hours weather or not you played the original.youcan play the minigames whitch does add replay value.
Super mario 64 is a great remake but it isnt quite as good as the original due to the small issues this game has.but regardless get this game wether you played the original or not
