One of the top Mario games out there... :-)
The Story:
The basic story, Peach is making a pie for mario, she invites and than ends up getting abducted by Bowser, (I think Peach is a tramp, lol) anywho, at the beginning of the DS version, Mario pops out of the tube, I was expected to get right into this, when... two other tubes came out of no where.!! I was shocked, Luigi and Wario came out of no where. I never seen this game before because it's been out for about 6 years now. So, all three of them go into the castle, and than a fourth character is introduced... YOSHI!!! Awesome, So, you take control of Yoshi because Mario and the others can't seem to be found. So, you try and find all three of them and than try to rescue princess.
Gameplay:
The control, in my opinion were the hardest to get use to, especially being a major fan of the original game for the 64. Without the joystick, I find it so hard to do quick jumps on turns and stuff. I find the camera really messes with the jumping ability, especially if you jump up a spiral tower.. you end up jumping off all the time, unless you move the camera around to aim it perfect to the next platform. But this is the only thing I realized that was a problem, and after a couple of hours, you will become use to it. I assure you, that you will love this game despite this little set back.
Graphics:
I think the game looks good, if not, better than the original. Especially being on the hand held DS blow my mind because back in the day, these were the most impressive graphics in the world! I know it's out dated, but I was never one who cared about the graphics. Each of the environments, I find, looks amazing! They radiate with colors and beauty.
Sound:
What else is better than revised and better enhanced mario scores...!!!!! Nothing, the music is awesome and is one of the reasons why i wanted this game. I love how the music goes so well with everything in the game. Each level has a different song that fits with the description of the level. Awesome!
Overall:
This game is definitely a must have for those of you who loved the original. I wanted just to pick up a mario game, and I picked up more. I picked up a game that allowed me to think back on my childhood days with my family, and all of us on a friday evening playing the hell out of this game with laughs and some intense swearing when trying to get to the extreme stars that are almost impossible. lol enjoy!
