Mario's back for some goomba-stomping action in his first 3D adventure.
@hotdiddykong Sweet. Now I'll be teaching Bowser what happens when you steal my power ups. Better make sure he doesn't get an Invincible Star...
Super mario land 3D is more like Super Mario 64, which is fine. But it seems like they focused on making the game more 2D than 3D in terms of gameplay. They hinted on it in SMG2 as well, but not as much.
It does look like it plays significantly slower than Super Mario Galaxy or Sunshine, but the level design shown here is very creative, and the perspectives give a good idea of how good the 3-D effect is going to look.
Good stuff. Good to see them using the eshop to show off 3D trailers at last. Starfox trailer is in 2D, whats the point of that?? I'd love to see another mario party game too
I was hoping for a true successor to Mario 64, this looks to be a bit of a floppy cross between Mario 64 and Galaxy 2... ... *sigh* Time will tell... I'll still get it anyway... :)
Pay close attention guys! Bowser's got a TAIL! He finally decided to use Mario's own Power ups against him! NIIIIIIIICE! @Wormkid_64 Yes, the first TRUE Mario portable game, also according to Miyamoto, the First TRUE 3D mario game to feel like his 2D roots. By all that happened, Mario's 2D and 3D games are 2 different things, Mixing them both should give a really unique experience
@hotdiddykong I'm happy for the cannons too. They remind me of the N64 days of constantly going "wow" at the fact we were moving about in 3D space.....ahh sweet memories. As I said before, this game seems to take Mario's best and mash it all up in an ultimate portable experience. Correct me if I'm wrong, but excluding the Mario 64 remake for DS,will this be the first portable Mario game with 3D game space?
This looks cool.It seems like they're taking some of the best of some of Mario's best games and mixing it all up in a 3D Super Mario Bros. style game. I liked the part where it played with your perspective for getting the coin in that room at 00:39-43. Seems like they'll be using this technique a lot based on one of the screen shots with Toads in it showing a path that seems to go up,but then just runs into itself like the famous never ending staircase. That will make cool use of the 3D.
It looks good but something about the graphics/levels looks a bit empty at most times. Like each level is very simple with a few simple 3D objects in it and that's about it. Can't quite put my finger on it but it often feels like they've tried to put in as little assets as possible in each area to save either time for the artist or processing power for the machine, or maybe both. It still looks really but at the same time it all looks a little empty to me.
@hotdiddykong I know, and that just makes waiting even more exciting. Thinking of being able to play the game instead of just watching it, I might explode... don't let me explode Nintendo! If they released a demo, I'd try to hold myself together for a second or 2.
@JollyGreenOne Lol yeah, and believe it or not, but the 3D video is just Video quality, the actual games quality and 3D quality will be MUCH better
I'm not sure if I like bowsers new tail... does this make him part koopa, part dragon and part raccoon? :P I can't wait to see this trailer in 3D, it seems to use the effect fantastically!.. It's going to make waiting until november much harder than it already is. :(
This and Luigi's Mansion 2 are the only reasons I want a 3DS right now... but I'm not forking out for one until the updated, sleeker model comes in with two analogue sticks without sticking on a load of DS-body armour a-la that awful new peripheral.
