Well, Nintendo has got their hands full. With the 3DS, and Wii U. They got a lot to deal with. But for now, Let's review one the early 3DS games that came out Nov. 2011...
Super Mario 3D Land.

Not only is it a Mario game, it's The Mario game I've actually was waiting for. Why? Well, this game is closely based on the side-scrolling Mario games like New Super Mario Bros, but it is a 3D platformer in the vein of games like Super Mario 64, which is my favorite game of all time. So 3D Land is like a hybrid between to 2 types of Mario. So going into this, I was both hyped, and hoping that it would delivered....it did.

Let's start with the story.........Bowser Kidnaps Peach.....Mario Goes for the rescue....same old....same old....Next!

The 3D....believe it or not...the 3D was good...it created the illusion without straining my eyes. And sometimes the 3D looked pretty impressive in some places, like the stage select screen.

But now, The gameplay...this is the ultimate reason why i love this game...any game really. But this game nails it! The gameplay is fun, addicting, and rewarding.
The controls...it controls really well. Whether you're using the XL or the regular 3DS, It controls great.

And of course, the music, any follower of mine knows that I love music in video games. And 3D Land is no exception. It's Incredibly Catchy, reminds me of Mario 64.

Anything that I didn't like? Yes! Those flipping Invincibility Leaf and P-Wing Assist Blocks. Here's the problem that lies in Nintendo games i've seen recently...they hold your hand through stages....WAY TOO MUCH! Up to the point of not only does it annoy, but if you have plenty of 1-Ups, you can just use these to your advantage. Making 3D Land...if played this way....EASY!

Another issue is the camera. It's positioned in a way where it kinda fixes with you, sure you can move it left or right with D-pad (or touch screen), but it can be an annoyance.

And finally, The Tanooki suit. Now it's a cool power up, don't give me wrong. But....it's all over the place. And every time you have it, you're gonna beat the level. But this is more of a minor inconvenience.

3D Land is just plain fun. And with these negatives aside. It's a purchase. If you just got your 3DS, and you need a game to go with it, This one is a no brainer. Have fun.
