Bounty Hunters on a mission of stress

User Rating: 7.5 | Sunset Riders SNES
When I read a synopsis for "Sunset Riders" and learned that it was about four bounty hunters who have criminals pay them off money so that they could take them to the cops and get a reward, I pictured something a little screechy.

"Sunset Riders" is actually a toothsome little western game about how stressful and painful it could get as a bounty hunter. You know, from anime like "Trigun" or "Cowboy Bebop"? Well, Sunset Riders is quite on the gung-ho side with a similar atmosphere. Except for those anime were released subsequently after "Sunset Riders", and I'm pretty sure that this game was where they got the ideas for them from. Aside from movies like "Midnight Run" or "Pink Cadillac", they didn't know how stressful life could be as a bounty hunter up until they came out with "Sunset Riders".

The character controls four bounty hunters/cowboys, Steve, Billy, Bob, and Cormano. Steve is a little slow at times and sometimes inane, but he is actually a nice gunfighter to begin with. Billy is slow-paced and a slow gunfighter, but is plausibly the easiest cowboy to control and play with. Bob is a cowboy who carries around in which can possibly be the biggest/strongest gun in the game and starts as he repeatedly shoots people with multiple bullets, it's probably the easiest gun to control. Cormano is a cowboy with a Mexican-like suit and hat. He carries around a sombrero, and while he may seem selfish and arrogant and maybe a little cocky at times, he is very much alike to Bob that is, a gun that shoots multiple missiles. I think Steve is probably the best and quickest player on the game, I recommend him. Especially if he seems like the protagonist, protagonists are always the best.

Here, with all these four cowboys mentioned, they are trying to possess rewards from bounties they give you before beginning each stage on which criminal you should eliminate. Some are walking stages and some are horse-riding stages.

I haven't really beaten the game just yet, it could take some practice. My first time playing this game was at a place called Skate land, they had this game for about seven or eight years now and I forced myself to play it on the Atari and found the game to be quite valuable. Games like these usually get a bit boring and frustrating that you'd want to get off and play something different, but "Sunset Riders" is quite the exception. It keeps you entertained and learning new things about the Old Western days and how people were like as cowboys and how stressful life could be like as a bounty hunter.
