Suikoden was the first of the series released on the playstation, and a great rpg, especially being published by Konami which at the time didn't have much recognition for rpg's. Eventhough Gamespot only gave it a 6.5 i think its safe to say thats kinda harsh. Its a very unique game and fun to play, and its got a different feel to it then many of the other rpg's that where being released at the time(Final Fantasy 7, Wild Arms) You can recruit up to 108 characters to complete your castle,and search for the 27 true runes, you can choose up to 6 characters to fight with you in your basic battles which is very nice so you dont have to deny fighting with some of your favorite characters because there's not enough room in your party. The story IMO is very good and easy to follow, and unless your new to the rpg scene then you shouldn't have too much trouble figuring out how to get from point A to point B. Overall this is a great way to start off the series, and a good game for its time. If your looking for a solid rpg to play in the near future, pick this game up!!
