Looks excellent, i've been waiting for a long time for a new arcade style space shooter. Plus it has mechs and everyone knows mechs are badass.
I will be buying this.

Peter locks on to his target in this review of space combat game, Strike Suit Zero.

I actually don't want to buy this game at all. Not because of the gameplay, but because of whose side you are on. I would have liked it better if you were a colonist fighting against the United Bullies.
@monstachruck Oh I don't know. Starcraft 2 has done a great job with their cutscene advertisement. Those days aren't over at all. BUT Dead Island was pretty misleading in it's initial trailer that was much much better than the actual game was. Dead Island was "okay" to me, but wow, had they made a game that lived up to the trailer, they would have had a real piece of artwork on their hands.
The game was fun until the suit mode came up. Terrible mode, they completely failed to make the suit O.P as it should be. The game is even more difficult with the suit. Epic fail: 5.0
7.5, 7.5 everywhere! (Seriously, GameSpot is rating a lot of games with the score 7.5 when 2013 started)
This game made me think of the famous anime "Gundam Wing" - but there was a team of mechs working together in that story. And the plotline and character development justified the combat in the anime.
I might pick this up at a steep discount, but without a plot or meaningful characters...it holds little interest for me.
Don't like the reviewer throwing names like Wing Commander or X-Wing randomly around like that one bit. This is an arcade shooter, not a real space sim, that's all.
Why are they peddling this console-slop to PC players is even more puzzling.
Wake me up when X Rebirth, Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous come around.
@isahunt I have to 'third' the objection to your characterization of this game as console slop. This game is in the same vein as Descent, Freespace, Freespace 2, and DEFINITELY Wing Commander. It is a genre called "Space Shooter", not "Space Simulation". The games you're waiting on are Space Sims, where you can trade, fly in a sandbox universe, and so forth. Space Shooters put you in a war. Freelancer, in my opinion, was the best hybrid of the two genres. While Freespace 2 is hands down the best Space Shooter IMHO.
@isahunt this is a pc game through and through. it isnt console slop. But it isnt a space sim like tie fighter i agree. Why even compare this to the Xseries though ... not even in the same boat. Apples to oranges.
@isahunt Because PC players kickstarted this. Don't blame the devs for "peddling this console-slop" when it was PC players who asked for it in the first place. You may not be interested in it. I understand, because I'm not either. But it's presumptuous for you to present your statement as though you know what all PC players want. If you wonder why some people call PC gamers elitists... it's due to people like you -_-
This game looks like it could be really fun. The visuals and scale are quite impressive.
Looks like grade A 'meh' to me. I think I'll stick to Omega Boost and the Star Wars fighter games.
This looked interesting...until the ship turned into some sort of transformer/mech thingy.
We can hear the sound of lasers firing, the ships moving, things exploding and so on, when there's no medium for the propagation of sound waves in space.
Even when watching Star Wars I kept thinking about this. It's uncomfortable.
Strike Suit Zero looks great though.
@fend_oblivion Realism has a place in games? Entertainers and Realists are always in conflict. Guns don't hardly make any noise in a desert (sand absorbs sound) - yet you'll never see a quiet desert gunshot in a movie. I usually seek out movies, music, games (entertainment) when I want to avoid reality. Life already has plenty of realism. There is nothing wrong with a relaxing hour of fantasy occasionally.
The game is good, haven't played a decent space shooter/sim since Freelancer, and looks good too, but if it would have had the option to do barrel rolls, it would've been a great game. I tryed it with a gamepad but there are some stupid bugs trying to configure the controls. Still mouse+keyboard is the best option for this kind of game.
I do seem a little confused-- why a walking mech as a spaceship? Do you ever walk on anything?
@willzihang The idea is that the "vehicle" would be more agile if it was shaped like a mech instead of a jet. For those times when it needs to ditch forward speed for moving side to side quickly or whatever.
I think it's a bit silly myself, and have since back playing older Robotech games with the same concept.
@willzihang I don't get it either. Also, I know it's space and all, but it seems like there are no other environments at all! Not even asteroid belt or nebula or anything really.
@AgentMothman95 @willzihang It actually puts me off the game to be honest-- to me it just seems incredibly childish to just shove in a 'cool' mech in a space game, seemingly just for the sake of it.
@CloudXentar @willzihang @AgentMothman95 maybe they plan to make it walk on bigger ships or platforms, could suggest that
The game is fun for few hours, but honestly the uninteresting characters and story that goes through cams becomes rather dull. I expected this to be somewhat like Freelancer but it's not. And yeah, it's just one ''mech''. Back to Zone of Enders and Macross I guess...
They need to patch in a checkpoint system that auto saves every 5 or 10 minutes, problem solved.
Great, now I'm really dying to see Zone of Enders 3. Thanks a lot for reminding me of the torturous wait Hideo Kojima is putting us through... :-/
Think I'll buy this, it's stupidly cheap on Steam now.
But no this isn't a Space sim, it's more of a space arcade shooter in the same veins as Gradius.
Now, Star Citizen is the upcoming Space Sim to wait for, glad I put my money in it, there's also Elite Dangerous, both games are looking to employ Newtonian physics.

No barrel roll? Then how can I do a barrel roll? .. I know! By doing a barrel roll! By god, that's just crazy enough to work!
There is Yaw, Pitch and Roll in the game and its easy to bind them to the axis of your choice. This game will not have you reaching for your Pedals and HOTAS, - but it does feel pretty good with a gamepad.
@JustPlainLucas You say that, but unless I missed it or the player of this footage isn't that accomplished with flight games, I didn't see the ships perform anything that would suggest roll is even a function of the controls.
