Streets of Rage is a beat em up style game for the Wii Virtual Console. The concpet of the game comes from a lot of action movies from the late 80's to the early 90's. Anyway, here's the story: A major city has fallen to crime, violence and gangs. A mysterious syndicate controlled by a man known only as Mr. X is controlling the chaos that has plagued the city. Three ex-cops have decided to stop the syndicate and the mysterious Mr. X in order to restore peace to the city. The three ex-cops you can play as in Streets of Rage are Adam Hunter, Axel Stone, and Blaze Fielding. Each character has their own style of attacks, strengths, and grabs. Axel has average strength, good speed, and average jump power. Adam has the highest strength, good jump power, but is a little slower. Blaze has the weakest strength, highest jump power, and is the fastest of the the three character. Each level you go through you will fight various enemies and on certain levels you will fight a miniboss (most of the time a weaker or possibly stronger version of past level boss). At the end of each level you face of against a boss, each having their own special attacks and abilities tha make each one challenging. Another thing is when things are getting tough or the boss giving you a beat down, call in the special forces. This ability/special attack can take out most of the lesser enemies in the game and can do some damage to the boss. There are 8 levels, each level getting harder as you progress. In short, Streets of Rage is a good beat em up game to add to your virtual console collection. It has very good qualitites and its fun to play with a friend.
