The sequal to Streets of Rage is better in many ways. Altough, in some ways, it's not really like its prequal.

Gameplay: The game pretty much plays the same way like the prequal did. Although, there are some additions. There are a few more fighting combos then the first, and the A button, used for calling the cops, is replaced by special action mania. This action will wipe out any foes in your sorroundings instantly. Unfortuntly, the more you use it, the more health you lose. This time there are multiple bosses, and mini bosses you have to take care of, unlike Streets of Rage 1. Also, instead of side-scrolling across a street as its named "Rounds", You go into different places as one round. For example, the first round, you go up and down a few streets beating up some foes, then you enter in the bar for more battles, THEN, you go outside where it's raining, and the Boss and his gang will appear. This type of process repeats in the rest of the rounds. So, no doubt, Streets of Rage 2 is an improvement then the oringinal, in terms of gameplay. Graphics: Instead of seeing small sized sprites only in the prequal, the sprites are a lot bigger and more detailed compared to the oringinal. Although, this game still doesen't take an advantage over the Genesis processor. So, Streets of Rage 2 is an average-looking Genesis game. Sound: Once again the music is done by Yuzo Koshiro. Although, in my opinion, the music is not really well compared to the prequal. This time, he makes the music more fast paced, more arcade style. I thought the first Streets of Rage music was great the way it was, so i didn't think it was nessesary for him to change it. Though, there are a few good tunes found for Streets of Rage 2, so, i gueese Streets of Rage 2 does a pretty good job with the music. Streets of Rage 2 also has more voice bits then the prequal had. In my opinion, most of them sound bad for 2 reasons. One, sometimes, you can not understand what they are saying, two, some sounds just don't fit for some of your foes. So, overall, Streets of Rage 2 has a slightly lower budget of Soundwork. Conclusion: Other then the semi-disapointment in the music, Streets of Rage 2 is still a real cool Genesis game. Frequent fights, some good music, and arcade style of play, make Streets of Rage 2 a Genesis classic. Most of todays gamers will not be dissapointed if they saw this game in motion. This game is just amazing.
