This was one of my first real game experiences at the age of 4 or 5, and it is still today one my best.

When I was a wee lad, my father purchased a Sega Genesis, we had what was called Sega Channel back then, which was a device that you paid monthly for to get a generous amount of games that updated every month or so. I believe I had been playing for some time and had this controller thing figured out, and then all of a sudden on the list of games there was this game known as Streets of Rage. The rest you can probably piece together.

The graphics: For the time, they were not to shabby. Not a whole lot more I can tell you.

Gameplay: There is only one thing you need to do in this game: Beat the life out of street thugs and make your way to the evil Mr. X. It dosn't get repetitive because you always have a new type of challenge waiting on every level. You have a good selection of who to fight with, (Axel was always my main man), and that was another good add on from the original, more detailed and customized characters. It makes it fun to see which type of fighter you appreciated, each quite unique.

Music: The music is very well done, somewhat fast paced but not so much that it overpowers the speed at which you can advance.

Controls: The basic controls are great because they don't allow anything more than what you need to beat your enemies senseless.

Bottom line: This is a genuine classic for Sega, I give it my full recommendation, and if you haven't played any older games and want to know what greatness was like back in the early/mid ninety's, try this one out. You absolutely will not be disappointed.
