Hello and thank you for reading this brief review of Street S8ter 2 for the Playstation. I will start by stating that this game was very disappointing after having played far superior score driven skating games such as the popular Tony Hawk line of games. This title doesn't stand up to it due to a number of reasons. The first thing that disappointed me is the lack of task variety within the levels. There is an almost linear aspect to the game and along with the more realistic and ridged controls the overall experience lacks the fluid sense of freedom and fantasy that you get with games like Cool Boarders. Perhaps it is unfair of me to compare the two but they both revolve gameplay around time management and score. The graphics were sub-par and the only redeeming quality I could truly enjoy about this game was the hard rocking soundtrack. I can't recommend this game to casual game players without a strong interest in skateboarding. If you are looking for more score based extreme sports games there are better titles available. This game simply offers too little choice and variety and aims for a more reality based style of gameplay that doesn't make for a very fun arcade style experience in my opinion.
