First of all, this game runs well on entry level desktop computer, with middle-end specification of course. Such as Intel© Pentium© 4, etc. nVidia© GeForce© 2, etc.
Second, the cars was only a few. Even though you can simply download the mod pack and add some modified game files to add some fancy cars from big car brand like Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Audi, Ford, etc.
Third, the engine can be tuned in details. For example, the engine block can be tuned in how rpm the power will emerged from the engine. The mixture of air-fuel ratio can be changed for internal combustion. The waste gate pressure from supercharger can be arranged for optimal fuel combustion. And many more.
Fourth, the physics. The body parts can be wrecked in natural way. If you crashed from left, the body will be wrecked left side. Or if you crashed upfront, the machine will be total wrecked. That means you have to buy another engine, and tune it once again.
Last, It's a nice game though. Just to waste your time and learning how to tune an engine. It was useful for those who wants to be a grease monkey (or a virtual one LOL). So, last words from me is: This game is worth playing at your spare time!
