I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I have the Wireless 360 controller adapter and that controller gives no response.
shut down the computer unplugged the adapter and plugged in a wired 360 controller, no response.
shut down the computer again without a 360 controller plugged in and used my wireless keyboard which I use for general use, no response (well, hitting enter will get me past the press start screen. After that no response)
shut down the computer and used a wired keyboard, again I can get past the press start screen but that is it.
What does it want me to do? I got the game from the capcom unity site and I've seen the boss select screen. That's it...

Press Start at the Boss Select screen to enter a stage.
Press Start at the stage and then F4 to enter button configuration.

as I said, none of the keys I press do anything. None of the function keys do anything. I can't select a level. There is no response to anything I press from any input.
D-pad does nothing. left stick does nothing, right stick does nothing, face buttons do nothing, triggers, bumpers, w, s, a, d, h, m, z, u, k, L shift, L ctrl, up, down, left, right, enter, tab, spacebar, left click, right click, scroll-wheel. none of them do anything.
The only thing that works is pressing enter at the press start screen.

Ditto, I can get to the stage select and that's it.
Keys, mouse and pad do nothing.
Tried editing the configuration file to enter new commands (just to see if arrows in replace of wash would work) and nothing at all happens.
Enter is literally the ONLY key push it accepts.
Oh and esc to leave.

Welcome to GameFAQs. I had to wait for about 10 different people like him to give the "select a stage" answer when I had this issue on launch night (night for me, anyway, not sure what time it was for people in the states). Its an epidemic where people here just don't read a f***ing thing and then some how manage to find a way to get mad at you for their stupidity.
Anyway, there is a terrible no input bug. No one is 100% sure what causes it. I know if I boot the game without my PS3 controller plugged in my keyboard works, but if I boot it with it plugged in I get the same issue you do (the same issue where people like lenne tried telling me to select a stage no matter how many times I said that only enter worked).
Sadly if you're starting the game without your controller plugged in I can't help you, as that was the way I got the game to register input.

Well I've tried booting the laptop and game with the wireless 360 pad on and with a USB 360 pad, no difference.
I hope this gets fixed soon.
Thank you for at least not telling us to select a stage XD

Try starting the game with NO controller connected. If you get keyboard input, you know what the issue is.
There is a fix, but it involves third party software. Use the program xpadder. What you have to do is boot the game without your controller connected, and verify you have input. After that, plug in your controller. The game won't recognize it because its already checked for controllers. With your controller connected switch to xpadder and enable the controller there, and set it to your liking in xpadder (xpadder presses keyboard buttons when you press the button on your controller).
I use this method to use my dualshock 3 with this game, and it works flawlessly.

push in one of the sticks on the xbox360 controller (can't remember if its the left one or the right one). I believe that is what worked for me. Then I immediately changed the buttons in the options.

Apologies, I had a bad head when I typed the above and I missed a couple of key words out that makes it a totally different sentence.
The above was meant to read...
I've tried booting the laptop and game up with both the wireless 360 pad on and with a USB 360 pad. And without, no difference.
So in short, booting without a pad makes no difference. With or without a pad in all I can do is hit enter and esc.
I've tried xpadder before, McAfee went nuts so I uninstalled it.
At least it was free, yeah i'm annoyed that i'll now probably never get to play it, but i'd have been fuming if i'd shelled out some cash for it.

Sorry for the double post, new to an iPad and didn't know how to multi quote.
Tried that with both pads, tried every button in order 3 times just incase it had a delay in activating.
