The street fighters renunion for the Ps2

User Rating: 8.4 | Street Fighter Anniversary Collection PS2
No matter which way you slice it or dice it, this is one great collection. Although it doesn't really feel like an "anniversary" collection, it's still nice to see and play this nice little Street Fighter package. It contains the first few variations of the famous Street fighters II, and now it also allows you to pick variations of characters from Turbo, Super, and Champion, plus the original ones, it also comes along with the last Street Fighter game ever released- Street fighter III: 3rd strike.

If you yearn for the days of yore, popping coins into the slots of the arcade machine, and then pulling off combos with Ryu against your best friend, this game will fill your thirst, as it gives you the Street Fighter II game, now with variations so you can make your dream matches come true. This is a great addition, since you can now make characters from different variations, such as Turbo and Champion, fight each other. Each variation is basically different, all except for the originals. Champion Ken is faster, while Turbo Ken is slower, but packs a bigger whollop. This game takes you back to the days when arcade reign supreme, but this time you won't be losing coins, you'll just be losing hours of your time playing with your buddies.

If you prefer the new versions of Street Fighter over the old ones, this package comes with a game for you too. The last of the Street Fighters game is included in this suberb collection, namely Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. This game features some of the series more quirky fighters along with originals and favorites such as Chun Li, Ryu, and Dhalism. The combat is the most precise of the series, and there are tons of combos such as parrying and leaping attacks to pull off.

Both games have graphics that are easy on the eyes, and 3rd Strike is definately eye candy. The sound is suberb, just like what you'de remember in the arcades years back, and the controls are right on target, a high pint for the Street Fighter series.

Although this game is basically just two games bunched into one disc, with the addition of dream matches, it at least feels a bit like an anniversary collection thanks to the cut version of the Street Fighter II the animated movie that is included in the game disk. Best of all, you don't have to be a fan of the series to like it, and if you are a fan, then this is a dream collection come true.

At a cheap launch price of only 30 dollars, this is a well purchase for any 2D fighting fan, and an essential for the Street Fighter nerd. There's not much games that have as an original game engine as Street Fighter. It's good to know Ryu can still make my fingers blister.
