4 great games in 1 collection...and 1 bad game.

I've always preferred the SF:Alpha series to the SF:2 series. So when I heard this Anthology was coming out, I was excited. And after playing it, I was not let down.

Now in case you don't know, the Alpha series came about after all the SF:2 games. But instead of Camcom making SF:3, they made Alpha. Alpha is a prequel toe SF:2 games. That's why you'll notice on the character pictures, they do look somewhat younger. The Alpha series also introduced new characters who were not seen in any SF:2 games. Like Rose, for example.

Street Fighter Alpha: the game that started the Alpha series. After playing Alpha 2 and 3, I can say this is the odd one in the series. The graphics were good, as well as the sound. It wasn't that it had a very small roster of fighters. It was the gameplay. Alpha 2 and 3 are very fast paced fighting game. The fights in Alpha 1 just seemed to be slow. Though overall, Alpha was a pretty good game.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 was a great game. Many call it the best of the Alpha series, and one of the best Street Fighter games ever. Improved graphics, updated roster, more technical gameplay. Alpha 2 is a great game. Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold improved upon that...softof. Gold to me just seems too much like Alpha 2, and not enough improved. Their almost identical.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 was my personal favorite of the bunch. It had a huge roster, great graphics, the best gameplay of the series, and the World Tour mode. Oh wait, 1 minor problem. For some reason, Capcom decided to "cut out" the World Tour mode. Alpha Anthology loses some points for removing the best mode in the Alpha series. Though, despite this, Alpha 3 is a very good game.

Super Gem Fighter Minimix, does not belong in this Anthology. I would have preferred if they cut this game out in exchange for the Alpha 3 World Tour mode. The graphics are good, and the game looks cute, but the gameplay is annoying, and not that good at all. Also it had a tiny roster, and not even all the characters are "Street Fighter" characters.

Despite the flaws, Street Fighter Alpha Anthology is a great collection, and is a must buy for all hardcore Street Fighter fans.
