Pretty good, but I still prefer Turbo Revival...

User Rating: 8 | Street Fighter Alpha 3 GBA
Although Street Fighter Alpha 3 is unquestionably one of the best fighters ever made in my opinion (with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 winning due to nerd-factor and easier controls) the GBA game just doesn't do it justice. My gripe with this game is over the controls. I just personally can't deal with the mapping of the buttons. If the option of simply tapping a button to do a specific punch was included, then I wouldn't have this gripe. Let me explain by using a large part of another review of mine on Super Street Fight 2 Turbo Rivival: [Skip the next 2 paragraphs if you've read my previous rant :) ]

As you know, the GBA has 2 face buttons, 2 triggers, and 2 option buttons (select and start.) The original arcade, as well as every major console port used a MINIMUM of 6-buttons (unless one had the Sega Genesis version without the 6-button controller, then that's their fault.) However, the exemption of 2 nessessary buttons doesn't destroy this game completely. Capcom basically allows a custom control scheme which allows a user to tap the button (tap B for light punch) while a full press uses a stronger attack (press B for medium punch.) Although this makes exact combos near-impossible or impossible to preform is dissapointing.

The game does allow compensation though through a simplier control scheme. by simply pressing the SELECT button while in a fight, it allows an easy control scheme to become enabled to compensate for the small D-pad, which make precise control frustrating at times. So instead of the standard forward, towards, punch for Ryu's fireball, the player simply presses foward then punch to execute the fireball...

I just which the options of Turbo Revival was available for this game! That's all I ask!

But don't let this review destroy your interest in this game. It's still great! Check it out if you can.
