Still Life presents a dark and exciting game of cat and mouse, hunting down a serial killer by collecting clues and solving puzzles.
The graphics are okay, though certainly not Resident Evil quality. The sound effects and music are effective in setting the mood, though better ambient sound effects would have been nice. The controls are simple enough and the camera angles aren't bad. The story is further supplemented by reasonably good dialog and some cinematic moments worthy of Hollywood.
The game is not without flaws, however. In setting the mood, more-enriched graphical detail would have been nice, as would more extensive levels and more complex areas. The storytelling is great but it's too easy to progress through the story, and there just isn't enough exploring involved. In addition, some of the puzzles feel uninspired.
But perhaps (*SPOILER ALERT*) the worst aspect of the game is the abrupt and unfulfilling ending. As you progress through the game, it is easy to be captivated and immersed in the story, but the game ends so abruptly, it practically screams for a sequel, but without any sense of closure at all, leaving you shouting, "That's it???"
Still Life falls into that category of games which present great potential but severely fail to reach that potential.
