Tom Mc Shea has a sinking feeling about this submarine action game for the 3DS.
This is going to be myh frist 3DS game. It's my brithday coming up and as you can tell I be getting a 3DS. I hope to get this game to. So far I've found out that most 3DS games are bad. ): But I don't think thats true. Also is it easy to set up online or WI-FI on the 3DS?

Beating all the missions (including expert mode) with all three subs could easily take you a dozen hours or more, and then there's time trial mode on top of that plus the Steel Commander game. There's a lot of bang for your buck here.
Been wanting to play this game but this review kept me away. After reading other more in-depth reviews, I find that THIS REVIEW is rather lacking. It doesn't mention the 3 different modes of play at all. They have the Campaign mode, the Periscope mode and a hex style boardgame strategy mode called, Steel Commander. Now after reading some of the better reviews of this game, I will give this game a shot. I realize the gameplay isn't for everone but I've always liked games that weren't all that popular. Games like Aerobiz, River City Ransom, etc. The game sounds like it might be short but I love Pilotwings and that was short but still good.

At least I'm not the only one who thinks Tom McShea is far from being the most exciting reviewer in the world. I mean it's hard to take someone seriously when they apparently don't give a flying poop about what they're doing. Again, I'm not dissing the content of the review, hell I didn't even play the game, I don't even own a 3DS! Just show some heart in your job for Christ's sake.

For everybody who gave me a thumbs down for my previous comment, keep in mind that Gamespot's score is an outlier. Many other publications scored this game a 7 or better. Just as an example of how poor this review really is, note that Mr. McShea never once mentioned the unlockable expert mode.
Too bad ... This game would've been the one to push me over the edge into buying the 3DS immediately, had it been more Sim-like.
What a terrible review. I don't mean the game itself is terrible, I mean the *review* is terrible. Seriously, 4.5 for a game that is original, engaging, and fun? What the hell, Gamespot!

This is pretty disappointing for a first party game, nintendo please make better new IPS I want the 3ds but damn the games are lame and few
Yeah, I heard that Steel Diver wasn't that exciting to play. I'm waiting for OOT, Super Mario, Star Fox, Metal Gear Solid, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus... shall I go on?
@Elidan1012 -- We tried to do a video review of most of the initial 3DS launch titles. Because a freelancer reviewed Shogun II, a video review was off the table, unfortunately.
@boctober Not really, nobody had a problem with DS's bad games because it had a hugest variety of Good games that they got forgotten easy
A lot of games are too forgiving these days. I still remember NES games that are dang near impossible to beat. Developers shouldn't fear challenge.
Seems like the first 3Ds games aren't looking so good. :( Hope it can pick up the speed with Super Street Fighter 4 and other AAA 3Ds games coming. :oops:
@Sharjar95 It's a launch title, many people are jumping at whatever games they can get for the new system. People have to know which games not to get before they rush to buy anything they find.
Yes the DS had bad games, so will the 3DS. Just wait 6 months and the 3DS will have a decent library. Launch games suck.
Terrible! You can expect many more titles like this one to be continually released for the 3DS just like the DS had. This is why the 3DS is not worth the $250.00. This will be nothing more than a DS with more bells and whistles.
