GTA meets DAYZ.

User Rating: 8.5 | State of Decay X360
I must admit, I never heard of that game until I browsed the games catalog on XBLA last week. Then I stumbled on State of Decay, read the scope, watched some Youtube videos and checked some reviews on the internet. I was hooked. I'm a GTA fan and Zombie fan and the mix of the two is just simply the most fun I've had in a sandbox game in a while. The diversity of missions, base of operation and ''staff'' management, resource gathering kept me glued to my TV for hours on end in the last week. The map is vast and variety of weapons is great. Graphics are functionnal but get the job done and sound is OK without stealing any shows.

On the minuse side, I will admit that at some point, It felt a bit repetitive because at first, you barely know how things work and there not much explanations or sufficient détails on what you can do. Plus there are two things that I despise:

1) first, some of the zombies are way too athletic. I mean, they jump and climb over tall fences and gates that even your character can't.

2) The world seems to be persistent. For instance, if you leave your game and come back like 24 hours later you'll notice the Morale of the survivors sharing your stronghold went down and there may even had someone who died from a disease or suicide. Persistent world is OK for an MMO game but it feels out of place with this games and serves more as a nuisance than anything. If it was intended at people that play games 16 hours a day, the audience will get thin before you know it.

Still, this game is well Worth the price of admission for people craving sandbox games mixed with zombies.
