Day9 proclaims MKP the best Terran in the world

No, I never said he shouldn't cast, I said that he shouldn't comment on balance of the game. Just because MarineKing won 2 MLGs doesn't mean he's the best player in the world.

@shadow_dog Look, even the pros say to get better you need to watch him. Not only that, he's doing the "be a better PRO gamer" series that proves he's got impeccable knowledge of the game. A player vs a coach are two different things. Players keep up mechanics and have game knowledge, but the coach can concentrate on having knowledge. Not only that, he's been grandmaster's level with all 3 races at one point [till everything got busy] so you should get outa bronze and watch some Day[9]Dailies.

@ Shadow_Dog Uhh, while we're at it then, let's remove Husky, HD, djWHEAT, and god knows how many other SC2 commentators are out there, since none of them are clearly qualified to cast considering they're not GM status. Saying that is like firing Rich Eisen from the NFL network. Just because he didn't play football doesn't mean he's BAD at discussing football.

Where is the proof that he is GM? Link me to one of his accounts that has a GM or even a M rating.

@ aliengroups Day[9] is a different kind of caster. He likes to add alot of fluff to make casting interesting for us the viewers. Alot of people enjoy his over exaggerated casts during finals and big matches because alot of other casters (like the IGN ones and playhem ones (not saying they're bad but they still need some more work before they're in the same league as dj9, tastosis and jp)). And he also can talk to tastosis (who cast GSL in korea) and find out if any new strats have emerged from that area. Usually when he talks to players he tries to help analyze their play (as it's easier to see what you can change and experiment with while observing) Good example is like when he did a daily with Sheth and tried to help him refine a build he started using. So they don't really teach him much. It's why when he casts he can usually tell us what different builds the person could be going and why. Alot of the lower grade casters can't do so. Because he still casually plays SC2 when he's not busy with all the other stuff he does.

@Shadow_Dog If you actually looked him up on liquipedia you'd see he was a pro gamer in Broodwar and he has also gotten to GM with all 3 races and random(legitimately because people always find randoms to be cheesers). If your wondering why he didnt continue to be a pro in SC2 is because he's using his time to instead do his Dailies for us to help us be better at the game. And he's also putting himself out there by being an ambassador for E-Sports all the time. So if he wanted to go pro again he'd need to stop all of what he was doing and go back to playing 8-12 hours a day. (was stated by him during 1 of his dailies cause someone asked why he doesnt go back to being a pro gamer). So l'd look someone up instead of embarrassing yourself by saying someone who you've never known about not playing the game at a high level. And don't judge his skill by monobattles cause those are just fun games to mess around in. Bet if you faced him in either SC2 or BW and he played seriously like back in the day you'd get your ass handed to you pretty badly.

Lol... @Shadow_Dog You obviously don't follow Day9 much then.. First off.. you don't have to be some crazy good Korean progamer to be able to analyze and know the game well. Plenty of casters(mainly Tasteless, Artosis, and Day9) who don't compete do know how to analyze a game and it's players in order to support what they say. Day9, when he has time to practice and ladder, can get into Grandmasters as Random. No, this isn't the GSL or anything, but that proves he knows something and is very capable. He deserves more props than you give him.

@Shadow_Dog to know a lot about the game, one does not need to compete at a high level. That would be like saying a sports commentator needs to be a professional at the sport to actually know what's going on. Watching a game (and I means hundreds of games a week of different players and different match-ups) is possibly the best way to get a thorough understanding of the game allowing one to be able to talk about balance and the such. Like I said, sports casters for Football, Soccer, Hockey and any number of other sports rarely are or were pros in that sport, yet I'm sure you'd take their word on if a rule change is not fair. This is likely because you see them every match talking about the game and talking to the players. While we don't see Day[9] cast every game of SC2 for MLG or other such leagues I can assure you he is talking to players all the time, learning what they know to pass it on to us.

Until Day[9] proves that he actually plays the game at a high level then I will listen to what he actually has to say about balance and about who is best, until then. (Also, don't talk about how he played BW blah blah blah this is a different game)
