Starcraft 2 is the long awaited sequel on starcraft 1, Where the 3 races. The Protoss the Terran and the Zerg fight in a battle for survival.
The singleplayer campaign is where a newcomer to strategy games will start. It includes a lengthy campaign, and 5 difficulty settings. In the campaign tou are jim raynor, the leader of the rebellion against the the terran dominion. In (almost) each level of the campaign a new unit is available and you get a quick tutorial on how to use it. The campaign consists of +20 levels and a SPOILER ALERT secret level. After you heve completed the first 4 levels you will be onboard with the hyperion jim raynors capital ship, wich has 5 area's of the ship to explore. All with useful stuff. You can purchase upgrades, buy mercenaries or watch the news.
The other stuff of offline play is skirmish vs the AI or do challenges: levels with a special challenge that give you information about wich units are good against units, learning to use special abilities or using hotkeys.
Multiplayer is where you will (probably) spend most if you time. You can do league matches, wich will place you in one of the 7 leagues depending on how good you are. Where you try to get as much points as possible by winning games to advance in a league. You can also do custom matches with other players. These matches are not ranked, but it are player created maps like cat'n mouse. You can co-op with another player against the AI players in co-op mode, this is unranked too.
There is a map editor too, A super powerful tool where you can create anythning from a 1st or 3rd persond shooter or a MMO.

A real strategy gem. Haters will hate, but there's no denying that StarCraft II is the proverbial perfect sequel.

Starcraft makes it's latest appearance to show all the other RTS boys who the real king is.
