Just a question here, as Blizzard tech support proved unhelpful...
I'm playing through the original SC campaigppns and experiencing a one-off crash - in Zerg mission 8 "an eye for an eye", when you destroy any Protoss Nexus a cutscene is triggered with Kerrigan smacktalking Zeratul, SC simply closes down following Zeratuls first spoken "concubine of the zerg" line.
Every other mission in SC works and I am able to log in/out of B.NET and join/leave games without issue, all Drivers, etc are up-to-date and have had several versions tried, SC/BW has been reinstalled from CD's and download and patched from different sources a few times.
The only fix appears to be Ctrl-S to turn off sound ingame or reducing my Directsound hardware acceleration to 0.
Could anybody confirm there is a bug in this mission or not? It seems unlikely every install from two different sources (my CD's and Blizzard Store) gets corrupted
I'm using SC BW v1.16.1, the Sierra bestsellers version which installs SC + BW in a single install.
Thanks!

I've never heard of this bug before.
My first instinct is that something got screwed up in the MPQ file. If you're feeling particularly ambitious you could extract the sound clip and see if it plays properly outside of Starcraft... but it's probably not worth the effort.
I would think a reinstall would fix a corrupt file though.

Try registering your copy of Brood War on battle.net (via web browser, not in-game) which should let you download it from Blizzard. This would get around any bad files on your CD.

Yes, sorry if I didn't word it clearly but I have tried Blizzard's digital download version too... and I am assuming it isn't a corrupt file simply due to the unlikelihood - I've now reinstalled four times - twice from my CD's, twice via downloading.
I'm using WinXP btw (I know there is a similar error using Vista/Win7 fixed by running it a Admin).
Google turns up a few identical posts in various forums about the crash - always exactly the same timing.

Note: I've installed SC BW on my other PC and an identical crash.
Tried creating a new profile from scratch and playing from the entirely new profile/save too, no change and identical crash.

The escape button skips dialogue, so whenever you see that particular part of the scene coming up, you can try that.

Yes, just trying to figure out the cause.
Another friend says crash does not happen in vanilla SC. No way to test it as I and the previous friend who helped only own the Sierra Bestsellers version or Anthology which install BW by default.
