The best Star Wars game ever?

User Rating: 9.2 | Star Wars: X-Wing Space Combat Simulator (3.5" Disk) PC
There's nothing like the trech run at the end of Episode IV. There's nothing like opening those S-Foils into attack position. There's no doubt about it. X-Wing takes you back to that feeling you always wanted to have of playing a flight sim as the pilot of not only an X-Wing, but also a Y-Wing or even a A-Wing, and all 3 are important to beating the game.

THE GOOD:
-The graphics were top notch. None better on the PC at the time.
-The trials are entertaining and tough. The challenge makes you want to keep coming back for more...AND they make you a better starship pilot.
-Blowing up Tie Fighters makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside
-Blowing up your first Star Destroyer makes you feel even more warm and fuzzy.
-The sound effects stay faithful to the movies...the X-Wing firing sounds right...as does the A-Wing fire and the Y-Wing multi-fire (Ion cannons or standard lasers)

THE BAD:
-Some missions can get repetitive.
-Some missions are easy...some are really hard (ie. the trench run).

All in all, this was the greatest Star Wars game ever launched at the time and it's worth playing even today if you missed out on the opportunity when it launched. Oh how I'd love a new Star Wars in-cocpit flight sim on a 360 or PS3...
