I watched all the Class Videos (That have been released) and this is the worst. Very Dissapointed since Republic Troopers are my favorite class. :(

all right what the heck why at 0:51 does the guy with the sniper rifle charge them!? and see it got her killed what a n00b
@ Cruisemissile Alright man, I hear you. I do like the star wars universe and I hope these guys do it right because there is no point in making a crappy game. Near as I can tell. Still, lots of people seem to do it. No one likes to have a game they are anticipating bashed so I don't blame you for going on offensive. May the force be with you.
@Bjornishigi alright im sorry i was quickly to tag you as a troller i just read your comment and saw you where complaining about bad graphics just about everyone does i too think the graphics are bad but it isnt stopping me from wanting to play this game but as you have now said if gameplay is good it will be a great game i think thats what their trying to achieve but i do think this trailer is an old one and like all mmo's this game will get graphic updates and yes i can be bothered to invest in £100 for a new graphic card and now that VAT has risen i had to fork out another £23 for it but i see where that point is going with most people not be bothered to invest well i dont know what its like where you are but over here people just dont have the money most of my friends struggle to buy at least one game and usually have to borrow them from me, as for me growing up, perhaps i have to swallow the pill and say ill grow up now, but now i have a question for you have you ever played kotor if so you will know its got shoddy graphics but if your like me you will enjoy it, this is one reason i want to play this game and i also hope that this game allows you to explore a whole planet like coruscant a massive planet city and if i was to be able to go down every street id be like gosh im lost! in a good way and have you researched about the game i have and im 85% sure the gameplay will be great.
@Cruisemissile You don't comprehend the gist of my follow-up comment. And it's clear your unclear what trolling means. Someone who name-calls and repeatedly posts offensive, uninformed comments to inflame others is a troller. You are not familiar with me at all but you are quick to denegrate me as a troller on the basis of a single comment; immaturity on your part. Hence, grow up and welcome to an adult world where people tolerate each others opinions on a mutual topic of interest without taking it personally. I stand behind my original comments. I've played many mmo's over the past decade(saga of ryzom, nwn, anarchy online, guild wars, city of heroes). There is no acceptable excuse for why the art and animations displayed here are so bad as they come from a top tier company. If the gameplay is righteous it will still be a great game, but graphics capabilities, namely shaders and physics/particle physics, have moved forward by leaps and bounds. The tech they have on display here is like a slap in the face. If you are into modding or play modded games you start to see where the devs are slacking, especially regarding environmental diversity, textures, character skins. A company like Bioware should be exploiting dx11 and all the bells and whistles, motion capture, etc. LordDavid hit the nail on the head. Making graphics in a game better is never a bad thing, for the reasons he mentioned. And finally, if gaming is your hobby, considering time invested in an mmo and you can't be bothered to invest 100+ bucks in a decent card, then you should take up jump-roping or something. And yes, I'm bored or I wouldn't bother to comment. ;)
@Cruisemissile Graphical information isn't sent from the server, it's all processed client side. The only things that the server needs to process are interactions with your environment, and movement. Even things like physics are simply handled by your processor, and may look slightly different from another person's perspective (but this doesn't matter since often world objects affected by physics are non-interactable). My point: making graphics in a game better is -never- a bad thing. A lot of people use the excuse "if the graphics were better then less people would be able to run the game" but that argument becomes null when you take into account graphical sliders and options in the game settings.
@Freakgrenade+LtDiablo thanks took my words right out of my mouth, Bjornidhigi you must not read many comments as i commented about graphics and that its for everybody not just YOU!, anyways if this game had really high quality graphics the game would not run on the servers there would be too much data and not enough speed to send it all to thousands of players at the same time, freedom of expression? yes everyone has the right its just how you choose to use that freedom. and the options at the end Really? saying things like that is trolling and if you didnt like the trailer you should read more before commenting how bad it is, as like Freakgrenade said its quite old now and mmos update graphics constantly if you look at runescape classic then runescape for example the graphics are improved alot.
@Bjornishigi you must be new to mmo's. Mmo's, even at launch they never ever have a fully polished game. All mmo's release loads of patches after launch to fix grahics issues bugs and such.If you played GW at launch and 4 months later , you would almost think it was a diffrent(better) game.MMo's ALWAYS release patches even more consistently than other game types , making them in overall propably the best quality games out there..
Just to clarify something regarding the graphics, the trooper has been out for awhile now so it is likely this is an earlier build in terms of QA that is being looked at, when looking at the recent videos and screenshots on TOR's official website, for an MMO it is gorgeous, I have to say for an MMO because yes, it is going to be designed for the masses, but like other MMOs they do carry the top end graphical abilities for the fortunate ones and I do not see why TOR would be any different.
ooooh man ...... porque todos los juegos no se parecen en escena al los infartantes cg.....T_T... no es que no guste pero.. le falta un toke
@ Cruisemissile I've played and enjoyed Bioware games and used their editors to create content for NWN. TOR looks graphically comprable to Neverwinter Nights which was released nine years ago. I didn't get onboard with NWN2 because they didn't improve the graphics sufficiently to make it enticing to me. . As an industry leader Bioware can certainly afford to advance their graphics to meet current standards. My comment is not baseless, neither do i look for opportunities to make negative remarks, so I am not trolling. If you have a problem with freedom of expression you have 2 options. A) stop reading B) grow up.
@Bjornishigi this is an mmo its aimed at letting almost everyone to play this game and as there will be thousands of players on at the same time the game will run slower and if you where expecting this game to be equal to crysis then you have your standards too high, and if you dont like it why watch it in the first place? now please stop trolling on the forums!
Wow, this looks reeeeaally lame. These graphics are way too antiquated. It's as though they couldn't afford to hire an artist. Or an animator. Time for a new game engine Bioware. This might as well be a lego ad. Booo.
This game will be amazing if you go to the star wars the old republic home page it will show you all the classes theres republic trooper, jedi knight, jedi consular, smuggler, sith warrior, sith inquisitor, bounty hunter and imperial agent as base classes then as you level up you can advance your class to a more honed in the sort of gameplay you prefer and the trooper will be played quite a lot actually their quite tough and awesome looking on other vids. This game has a story so what what's so bad about that it is based 300 years from kotor and this is a game as much a MMO and if you think the graphics are lame their doing that on purpose as this is a pc platform game and so most people can play this they have set the graphics to a lower level and its still great the game will be amazing. The planets you get to explore are massive should take a good 200 hours to explore most of one planet and still be able to get lost especially coruscant the planet city is massive, http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/making-coruscant. I think theres 15 planets to explore yes it does sound like not much but if you do go to the home page do a bit of research you will see that the planets will be massive. And i think i could go on for about an hour so i think i might stop now or anyone who reads this will get bored and not want to read...
I have a feeling LucasArts probably have not giving Bioware free hands, and if the game is not awesome... we all know LucasArts are to blame.
This game looks amazing. The battle system looks awesome, the conversation system looks amazing. I heard that you can start a Sith or Jedi and you can switch sides later. But what I want to know is can you start out as a non force character and eventually become a force character.
@node1011 This the same crap bioware always gets from ppl who only care about graphics. Look at Dragon age, got the same criticism but it was great game. this game has an okay graphic, and its going to be a ton of content in this game so i wouldnt care so much for the graphics
BornGamers is right, this will be a hub MMO anyway like Guildwars, DDO, globel agenda, there will be missions and that's about it, single player by yourself or friends is basically all this will be just the like upcoming Neverwinter nights 2011 as well. All in the name of profits, they can't even make game world to explore anymore they just go to hubs and pay to play or both. I say to my guildmates, we're not witnessing the death of MMO's, it's already happened
Totally agree with Skullcandy. The stylized art looks very unoriginal and void of personality. Animations are still stiff as ever. Not talking polly count and effects, etc. When I look at these characters, it has a very amateur feel to them. The art almost seems to go out of it's way to be annoying. It's sad really, because some of the game elements look to have been carefully thought out. Unfortunately, bad art direction, crappy tacked on space combat, and cloned companions will make this game feel very cheap and amateurish.
pretty sick, but seriously I'm not gonna pay to play. been there done that. its called world of warcraft. never again.
I agree with BornGamer on this one. The only reason I have faith in this game is Bioware, but I'm also 90% sure this game will tank. MMO's are a social gathering place first and a game second. I see nothing in Old Republic that makes it stand out and has me drooling for purchase on it's release date. I'll wait a year for it to become free to play.
@ejstrup I agree Bioware are very talented. That doesn't prevent this game from having lousy, uninspiring, unimmersive graphics and nothing new or interesting to offer. Unless you consider fully voiced dialog that everyone will want to skip "new" or "interesting". Making single player RPGs isn't the same as making MMO's and Bioware has no experience making MMOs, which will be obvious after it releases. This game will do extremely well at release then tank horribly as the majority of subs are cancelled. Sorry, starry-eyed fanboys.
Bioware + LucasArts.. I mean come on.. Can it get any better from that? Been following this game for a while, and it sure looks getting better all the time! Cant wait
Finally! An MMO designed to appeal exclusively to 9 year old Star Wars fans! They've been left out in the cold for too long! LOL. Seriously though, this game looks so amazingly awful. Like a substandard version of WoW with a Star Wars skin.
I just cant wait for the release i have already played KotOR 1 and 2 through like 12 times or something ;) they are the best Star Wars game ever, untill this release ofcourse ;)
Is it just me or does this class look very boring? It's just pew pew every fight over and over, nobody will play classes like these if you can chose Jedis and Siths, in fact I'm sure 99% of the players will be one of those two
("Commander/Trooper (/Jedi?) Shepard - Most badass person over two galaxies." transcendent12) I couldn't have said it better myself, Jennifer Hale has kicked more sentient and non-sentient ass over the lengths of two galaxies then anyone I have ever heard of....
Look how stiff those animations are! Jesus Christ, Bioware-- do you have one crappy animator doing everything, or did you have to specifically recruit a whole studio of equally crappy animators? They've been doing this same stiff animation work for years, and people have been complaining about it for years.
@bucknuckin If your not happy of PC gamers, then don't come here in the first place! People hate annoying idiots that float around and boast how good their console are and tell people to go console whatever. Its a free world, and in a free world, I have not 1, but 2 words for you: SCREW YOU!
