Buggy but fun

SWTOR is a fun game, but it could have used another 6 months or a year of development. It's not quite ready for prime time. It is extremely buggy and lacks basic polish in many areas of the game.

I've played A LOT of MMOs and this one is by far the buggiest. The two most annoying bugs are 1) You occasionally lose the ability to click on anything. The only solution is to relog. When you're in a group instance, this is a major pain. 2) The chat interface loses channels. Several times I have joined a group and found I was unable to see party chat. Again, the only solution is to relog.

The crafting system is rather nice, but lacks polish and has a few of its own bugs. Not to mention it's very expensive to craft, not just from the price of the missions, but the recipes you buy from your crew trainer as you level up are wacky expensive.

As with other MMOs, there are time-sinks built into the game to keep you from burning through the content in a week, although that didn't stop many. Released on 12/20 and I know several people who were 50 by Christmas. Still, those are generally the people who play about 18 hours a day, 7 days a week and do nothing except quest and kill for experience. My gripe are these silly time sinks. Just coming and going from your ship is a crazy process of moving between ship, hangar and space station. It's like 5 minutes of wasted time. There are other time-sinks as well, but that one is the most annoying IMO.

So if you like Star Wars and MMOs, I'm sure you'll like the game, but be prepared to be annoyed on a rather routine basis until Bioware gets their act together and starts fixing this buggy game.
