How Difficult are the Tier 1 Hardmode Flash Points with Tionese Gear?

- Feb 1, 2013 7:37 am GMTYay back before we got free Tionese gear for reaching level 50 I only ran Hardmode Black Talon as it was the only thing I was comfortable with given my experience and gear level.
Fast forward to now I got my character in full Tionese from the free Commendation and am trying to replace the rest of my gear with items of similar rating.
However, despite queuing as a healer it still seems to take a while to get a group and probably even more so since I'm queuing for only one Flash Point. I'm also missing out on the bonus Black Hole Commendations.
Can having Tionese gear somewhat makeup for my lack of experience with the other Tier 1 Flash Points?
Comments and suggestions are appreciated,
Thank you

"Go for the eyes Boo! Go for the eyes!" - Feb 1, 2013 7:46 am GMTYou should be fine. Originally, HM Flash Points existed so people could acquire Tionese gear and do Story Mode Operations.

Sychotic Quote for the Whenever: "Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you're a dog." - Feb 1, 2013 7:52 am GMTThanks for the quick reply, it's because at the time my character was not geared enough to do even regular...Directive 7 I think it was?
So I'm concern how well I can handle the Hardmode version even if I'm in Tionese gear.
But if all the Tier 1 Hardmode are tuned to people below Tionese gear then maybe I won't have any issues.

- Feb 1, 2013 8:54 am GMTThe HM's are laughably easy. You really should be queuing up for all of the tier 1's to get your Black Hole comms. After that feel free to queue up for only the ones you want to run. Just don't waste your time running Black Talon all day long...
When you get into the group, please let them know you've never run the instance before. They'll be able to catch you up on any mechanics you need to know.

"Im talking about 2 hits. I hit you, you hit the floor."- Keenan - Feb 1, 2013 11:36 am GMTI would suggest getting in to a Guild. I'm a DPS so my Queue times are slower than you and I was stuck in Tionese Gear for a while. I got in to a PVE Guild yesterday, we ran about 4 HMs and EV SM in my Tionese Gear. I was able to keep up, and I was able to acquire a mix of Columi and Rakata by the end of the night. And a Black Hole Earpiece. We are going to run through some more today.
So, I suggest you get in to a friendly PVE Guild that can help you. You will Queue in faster, and you will be able to have some people that you will start knowing rather than some random people that won't be looking out for you.

Nope. The sad reality was, it was easier to actually acquire columi items than it was to farm Tionese gear. It came down to knowing which FP dropped the piece of gear you needed.
The only two tier-1 flashpoints I found difficult were Battle of Ilum and Directive7. False Emperor is kind of hard [mostly the last boss] but the rest should be quite easy.

Battle of Ilum is even easier than Black Talon. I do BT a lot to farm social points and I've seen party members get 1 hit KO'd on the last boss. I guess they don't escape the cyclone pull in ability thing quick enough.
Ilum, if I remember right you can skip every boss except the last one.

XBL & PSN: OMGFather - Feb 2, 2013 8:25 am GMTTC, my first HardMode flashpoint was Battle for Ilum, and immediately aftewards I did the False Emperor. It was my first outing with Tionese gear, and it was **** easy.
Seriously, you will be fine with everything up to and include FE if you have all the Tionese gear already.
However, don't jump straight to Kaon. That and Lost Island are the only flashpoints I had any real trouble with. Once with that ****ing gun emplacement on Kaon and the 2nd boss on Lost Island. Both are pretty hard, so try the "mainstream" flashpoints first.

Last time I did it in 1.1, it was pretty difficult. I don't get why people think koan is hard. If your tank sucks in that FP, you have no chance in beating it.

Perhaps, but I define "easy" as one where there isn't a complete party wipeout. I died once or twice as the tank, but the entire party never got wiped.
As for Kaon, just took a little practice and experience.

Agreed. Lost Island is the hardest flashpoint, even with Tionese Gear. But if you can consistently beat that, then you're probably ready for ops.

First time I couldn't get past the droid, second and third times the tank and healer bailed after the first wipe, 4th time I got 3 really good ppl (from same guild) and we got all the way to Lorrick but I couldn't get the debuff dodge figured out. It was 3am so I'm going to blame it on being tired until I get another shot at it.
The point of my post: I think Lost Island is harder than the first two OPs because those battles mechanics are brutal. Haven't done Denova yet, but hopefully soon.

The debuff can be purged. After we figured that out we managed to beat it. Really fun FP once you get the mechanics down.

I wouldn't suggest doing LI HM unless you are at least full columni. If you're guild is carrying you through HM LI, they should be carrying you through "triple deuce" for the weekly and getting free rakata.

Disagree. I did all of them in hard mode except KUS and LI with half Tionese gear, the last two were ****ing difficult though, but certainly possible. They weren't guild runs either, group finder with similar characters.

My point is, you got carried HARD!!!
We tried to carry a tank who was a fresh 50 and we were in full campaign gear and we couldn't get past the first boss in HM LI. Reckon once we dumped him and got someone somewhat geared, it was very easily doable. I am sure we could have carried a mediocre DPS but since he was a tank, wasn't gonna happen.
As I have said, Koan is 90% tank issues especially with the second boss. A good chunk of the time, I will die on the last boss because I will pull aggro.
