Kind of old but still one of the best for PS2

User Rating: 7.5 | Star Wars: Starfighter (Platinum) PS2
As a great fan of sci-fi space combat simulations I bought this one as soon as I got my PS2 in 2002. Last month, fed up of minor games like Star Trek: Shattered Universe, I took it from my dusty shelf and played it again. That is fun!

It's not the best space game I've ever played but, still and unfortunatly, one of the few and best games of this kind for the PS2.

I really can realize why are so few development on first-person space shooter. You might say that not everyone likes them and your right. But that's because there are so many low-rate games about piloting space ships. But this game is not the case.

Star Wars Starfighter is a highly enjoyable game full of action and shooting. I takes place in the begining of the saga and put you as a starfighter pilot (best saying, several pilots).

It has several types of mission. Attacking, deffend and reckon in both space and planet environments. Controls are precise and easy and the target system (one of the biggest flaws in this type of games) is about perfect for fewer keys in PS2 - the guys from Lucas Art still got the touch from other space shooter classic on the PC like Tie Fighter.

Graphically the game is very appealing, full of lighting and effects. The spaceship models, although not state of the art, are well detailed. The textures and environmental effects are enjoyable to see. The sound is very good from the laser to the character acting.

If you like space adventures, you've got to play this one, even if it is from 2001.
