The Force is Strong With This One...

User Rating: 9 | Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II GC
Have you ever felt the urge to pilot one of the famous Rebel starfighters and blast your way through some of the most amazing moments in Star Wars in the films and out? If you are like me, a dedicated Star Wars nerd, then the answer is yes. Luckily, Rogue Leader manages to live up to the Star Wars name and lets you do just that, even after over seven years.

For a flight game, Rogue Leader is pretty simple and easy to grasp. This by no means mars the core gameplay and feel of piloting a starfighter in any way. The whole way I felt like I was in the front seat of one of those legendary ships. Simple it may be, Rogue Leader is definately a challenge. Striving for extra medals and bonuses, and just completing the levels can take some quick thinking and planning. Its difficult in a good way though, and the gameplay comes together very nicely.

Visually this game is astounding. Bear in mind I picked up this game cheap last week, and it still looks mouth-wateringly gorgeous. Its completly authentic looking, and for a last gen game made under less than a year on totally new hardware, it looks better than nearly any GCN game out there. The sound is also just as good, and really puts to thought how much John Williams was paid for those movies. Even some of the voice work that isn't from the original actors sounds almost exactly like their part. A nice addition is the original voice of Wedge, for all the non-movie missions that feature him.

My only complaints are very few, but a bit annoying. The biggest concern is length, as it only lasts eleven missions or nine hours to complete the main game. This is mostly compensated for with excruciatingly difficult medals an other unlockables.

All in all, any Star Wars fan or flight fan needs Rogue Leader in their colliction. Its flashy, simple and fun, so go grab yourself a copy for 10 bucks.
