Not bad, but not great either...

User Rating: 6.8 | Star Wars: Lethal Alliance PSP
Lethal Alliance is not too bad a look into the non-jedi side of the galaxy. If only the game had focused more on the melee combat rather than the ranged.

When going toe-to-toe with some Shock Troopers using your trusty Thorn of Ryloth the game is fun and can be fast paced, unfortunately the gunplay lets it down, mainly down to the awful targeting system.

In fact, if there was one factor that really breaks this game, it's the targeting. The game can sport an impressive (for the PSP and the detail at which it achieves it) number of enemies on screen at the same time, which can often lead to you trying to cycle through the targets to get to the one you need (which is especially annoying on any section where you need to target a terminal – or multiple terminals - in order for Zeeo to close a door enemies are streaming out of).

I’ve found the best way around this is close combat. It looks great, and handles well, especially if you catch a guard by surprise or use one of the many co-operative moves you’ll pick up along the way. Unfortunately, with many of these being one shot kills, it can make the game a little easy.

The platforming elements of the game also suffer due to the targeting, often not giving to a decent view when you need to dive across gaps or dodge lasers. And although the holographic disguises are a great idea, they didn’t feel quite right and often didn’t work too well anyway to bother taking seriously.

If ever there is another game featuring Rianna Saren and Zeeo on the PSP, let’s make it up close and personal. Play a thief as a thief and keep things quick and quiet (or wild and messy if need be) but focus more on the melee. It’ll be more fun that way.

If you're a Star Wars fan, you could do worse than play this. You could also do better...
