Savetehaloz reviews Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, the best Star Wars RPG out there.

User Rating: 9.5 | Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic PC
I borrowed Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) from my friend and decided to play it. Its as simple as that, I had never watched any trailers, nada. I was in for a big surprise; the game was excellent. I originally had played KOTOR 2, its sequel and found this game, the original, to be much better. The game takes place thousands of years before the Star Wars movies, so things are a little different but are still recognizable. So lets start the review!

Gameplay
Star Wars KOTOR controls and in game menu system are easy to use and are intuitive. Character movement is controlled by the W, A, S, D keys. It is also easy to switch between characters using TAB. The combat system is point and click. You select an enemy and you click on an attack or Jedi Feat to perform. Surprisingly, the combat is not boring and is rather interesting to watch, especially with multiple enemies. Traveling between planets is done by your spaceship, the Ebon Hawk. The areas you visit seem alive with NPCs, which whom you can interact. There are plenty of weapons, armor and little tid-bits so its varied. Weapons like blasters and lightsabers are customizable. You are given a lot of choice in the game on how you do things; there is an evil or good way; each with consequences. By performing bad deeds you earn Dark Side points and by performing good deeds you get Light Side Points. As you become more one sided, your persona and physical appearance change. Overall, the gameplay is great and I found no problems.

Sound
The sound in Star Wars KOTOR is top notch. The battle music and menu music makes the game seem epic, which it is. The environment sounds are good; you hear your footsteps, the swinging of your lightsaber etc.

Graphics
As dated as the game may be, the graphics are still pleasing to the eye and have aged well. The game is not terrible to look at and had good graphics back in its day.

Conclusion
Star Wars KOTOR is an extremely well crafted game by Bioware that is an instant classic. As old as it may be, it is well worth the buy.
