what is the max level for the main character?

what is the max level for the main character? 20 is the cap for KOTOR 1.

Technically it is 50, but you can only reach that by cheating or using one of the XP farming glitches. With normal gameplay, you can't really get higher than about 38 - 40.

All characters can get to Level 50, but Level 30 is just about the maximum you will get unless you exploit the Hssiss glitch at Korriban.

I think there is one where you plant 30 maximum mine then quicksave, quickload and recover your mine to get free EXP I think, IIRC.

There's one that's similar, but slightly faster than the quicksave/quickload method. It involves planting mines on either side of a transition to another level--where you'll get a loading screen--then returning and harvesting them. Once you pass the loading screen, if you return to the first side, you'll get xp for harvesting your own mines.

In practice, it goes like this:

-plant mines on one side of the transition
-go to other side (passing loading screen) and plant mines there
-return to the first side (passing loading screen again) and harvest the first batch (gaining xp) and plant another batch
-return to the second side and do the same
-lather, rinse, repeat

It's the same principle as the quicksave/quickload method, but because you're planting mines on both sides of the transition, it's faster.
