This is my post NGE review for a very broken game with developers who just don't listen to their community...

Star Wars Galaxies should have been a very popular mmorpg seeing as it's a massive online world based on the Star Wars Universe, which is what everyone wants. However it seems as worse as everyother movie game and based on the new trilogy too lol. When SWG was released it gave massive disappointment to everyone seeing as it was nowhere near finished and very buggy. So SWG would never recover from this as a game only gets one chance for a first impression. After the mount and player cities patch however then game was coming on nicely and all it needed was some good content which the later expansions added anyways. However Raph Koster left the team and he said never to add Jedi to the game as playable chaarcters, boy was he right. Jedi ruined the games economy and instead of everyone playing their professions and having a fun time as intended, everyone just grinded through them all. Holocrons were the key to unlocking Jedi and 4 would tell you what profession to master and the 5th would be a guess, so it did take a long time. If this wasn't bad enough SOE patched the game to take out Jedi Permadeath so this meant all you lost from dying 3 times is experience and not EVERYTHING which was a great system for keeping populations down.

Eventually they patched Publish 9 where it was even easier and all you had to do was a series of badges and quests from the Village. After this they then made you able to play Jedi from the start with the NGE, which is stupid as Jedi are meant to be very rare and on the games timeline not even exist lol.

JTLS the space expansion pack was launched and many quit because it was a big letdown and not what we wanted at all. Where was the Star Wars experience of taking down a Death Star or Star Destroyer? None of this was in the game and it was pretty boring. JTLS was also about who has the most money rather than who has the most skill which is another thing i didn't like about it.

So people eventually worked out how to get like 96% resists from comp armor and doctor buffs which gave you stupid amounts of health and action + Drink which gave you stupid amounts of Mind. The developers never bothered to fix this by capping it all so crafters couldn't make this anymore, instead they gave us the CU.

The CU basically added Levels and fixed the armor issue, however not having levels is what made it unique and fun to play because there was no end game and you were constantly evolving your character. Also by not having levels you could master a crafting profession and a combat one so you could be great at both but not amazing in any. When levels were added in you had to chose to be a crafter or combatant which sucked.

Not long after the CU SOE/LA launched "THE NGE" which basically ruined the whole game we loved. It reduced the 30+ professions you could mix and match down to just 9 set classes. Also it changed the combat to a tackey horrible FPS style which just didn't work at all and felt soo cheap and buggy. Also the NGE made crafters useless by making all the best items drop from mobs. The NGE also added a horrible UI and basically all you need to know is it made the game even more buggy and horrible.

It's such a shame because before all these events in the player cities and mounts patch the game had a bright future and a wonderful community. Also the game had highly detailed graphics for a mmorpg and great sound and was sooo unique + had Star Wars going for it.

Instead SOE/LA ruined SWG and wont ever give us classic servers...

Pre CU after Jedi - 8/10 (still could have been fixed)

CU - 6/10

NGE (at release) - 3/10

Basically a new player might have abit of fun but the games sooo buggy and nothing like it could have been or was i have to rate it horribly.....
