corrupted by the darkside

User Rating: 4.5 | Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace PC
The game had sooo much potential, just the smallest of things could vastly improve gameplay, but unfortunately these small things add up to one big problem which in the end becomes tiresome and just not worth it.
The graphics although blocky are still relatively good and an accurate presentation of the movie, the sound is great with many interactive encounters, all the star wars sounds are there accurately and again reflect the movie.
Now the bad, Although the game starts promising, You will soon notice how much of a hindrance the camera angle is, enemies can be shooting at you off screen before you even get a chance to see, the problem with this is you will spend most of the time deflecting enemy shots rather than actually using your lightsabre to finish them off, once you get an opportunity to use the lightsabre in action enemies seem to take an unbelievable amount of lightsabre slashes before going down, the problem is being close to the enemy leaves you exposed and usually means you will take damage and it doesn't take much until you will see the game over screen. The camera also just ruins the overall experience, the locations are great but most of the time you cannot see far ahead enough to really explore and enjoy the environments, which to me is one of the biggest downfalls of this game, eveerything is there but the crappy camera angle just takes away the whole experience. The tasks also become frustrating because of the camera angle such as mos espa tasks which require a lot of backtracking virtually looking at the ground to figure out your location as its mostly desert with similar huts. Ultimately i can't even recommend this game for even the die hard star wars fan, there are better available and the game is just not worth the frustration and corruption of your soul, look elsewhere.
