While "Jedi Jumping Battles" may be a better name, JPB still delivers some solid lightsaber action.

User Rating: 7.1 | Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles PS
I've got to say it before anything else: if you have a high tolerance for repeatedly falling to your death, then JPB should be a rewarding experience for action and Star Wars fans alike. Taking some of the most memorable parts of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, JPB allows you to select from one of five Jedi (Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, Adi Galla, or Plo Koon) to burn through a series of levels performing all of the acrobatic and lightsaber-swinging action you would come to expect from being a Jedi Knight. With ten levels in all the game is relatively short, but part of the fun is going through with each character to experience each individual's unique sets of combos and force powers. There is also a cooperative mode available for you and a friend to engage in twice the mayhem. Graphically the game is great, with plenty of accurately rendered locales from the movie including the Naboo palace, Coruscant, and Trade Federation Control Ship. The characters are all very well animated, and the hordes of droids break apart in suitably explosive fashion. Sound is, like every Star Wars game, chock full of John Williams' timeless score, and the familiar ILM sound effects which make the movies so memorable. I hate to harp on the one aspect, but if it were not for the incessant jumping, JBP would be a stellar action title. If you absolutely hate platform-hopping, then stay away from this title. Otherwise, there should be plenty of fun to be had with Jedi Power Battles.
