The game is interesting but the flaws in them ultimately destroys it.

User Rating: 5.5 | Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles PS
Star Wars Episode I Jedi Power Battles is a melee action platformer based on the movie Episode 1 the Phantom menace, while the beginning of the game can be bearable the rest becomes frustrating due to major flaws.

Game design: At the start of the game you get to select Jedis, after selecting a character you will go through 10 very long stages,.
All the progression is based on the movie, extra details were added exclusive to the game that were not included in the movie like boss battles that never took place in the movie.
The graphics are great and each character is well animated.
There are also some CG cut scenes taken from the movie or exclusive to the game.
The single player mode can also be played as a co-op, but both characters have to stay relatively close to each other in order to move on as the screen won't split or get wider.

Game play: 5 Jedis are selectable from the start, Qui-Gon Jin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Adi Galia, Mace Windu and Plo Koon, others can be unlocked by completing the game with each character.
Each Jedi can double jump and run, each can also block or deflect shots but cannot block too many hits otherwise your blockage will break and you will be open for damage, each will also have their own sets of moves but buttons are identical.
Defeating enemies or picking up items will give you points, if you managed to collect a lot of points you will level up and will be given the choice of either increasing your health meter or force meter, you will also be allowed to learn new combos.

Sound: Although characters have voice effects they don't come from their original voice actors from the film.
Sound effects are pretty decent and music is extracted from the movie, however some sound tracks are often used a lot.

Star Wars Jedi Power Battles is entertaining in the beginning however there are so many flaws in this game that makes it so frustrating.
Camera is at a fixed angle so you will often fall during platforming and will have to restart from the last check point (which is often way too far away) also if you want to deflect laser shots right back at the shooter you will have to push the block button before the laser hits you, which proves to be difficult because reaction timing is slow and if the enemy is outside the screen range you won't be able to tell where the shot is coming from,
lightsabre combat is flawed due to unresponsive controls and they are also very stiff, you won't be able to move while attacking or blocking and you can't attack or block in mid air, also in the air you are very vulnerable since it would only take 1 hit to through you completely off balance and make the jumping that much more frustrating.
Also (apart from blocking) you can't perform any force moves (eg. No force push or pull) its also very curious that droids and thugs can block lightsabers using their bare hands, also once you are surrounded there is basically no escape, because if you jump enemies will run at exactly where you are gong to land and will either attack you (If surrounded they will all gang up on you) or continue blocking your moves (and that's just at the easy mode) which is very frustrating.

Star Wars Episode I Jedi Power Battles doesn't stay true to the Star Wars ideology, its just plain frustrating due to many game play flaws and isn't all that fun, which is why I can only recommend this to forgiving fans alone.
