Star Wars Battlefront II is the sequel of the original, popular Star Wars game. It is a short, yet fun, Star Wars game, adding many changes to its prequel. But this game has its flaws.

Lets start with the graphics. The graphic are sharper and clearer that the original Battlefront game. Many of the units designs are excellent and clear. The detail in some of the places, like Yavin 4, are just great. Even though some of the characters, like the Wampa, seem a bit sluggish and even at times a little drunk, the graphics have taken one step further in this game. There are some other graphic issues also. You will notice that the graphics when a grenade blows up don't seem so great, or realistic. And when you use a sniper, some views seem rather unclear and blurry.

As far as sound goes, it is great, but not extraordinary. The sound of some of the weapons, such as the Clone Commander's (Republic) Chaingun and the Droideka (C.I.S), sound great. However, some of the sounds sound bland and unrealistic. Some of the sounds I'm talking about are the grenades (sounds nothing like a grenade to me), or the shooting of cannons from a vehicle. I was not pleased with some of the games sound. The voice casting in the game is pretty good, but then again, not great.

Now I'll go to the actual gameplay. In Star Wars Battlefront II, you take control of a unit from four different sides. The units vary and will be needed in terms of strategy of even enjoyment of the game. If you die, it is not end of the world (unless your the last unit on your side), you can still choose another unit, and start off at a Command Post (where you spawn). You need your Command Posts to survive. If your side runs out, you have twenty seconds to take one of your enemies Command Posts, or you lose.

Now lets look at the plot of the game. You start off as the Republic in Star Wars Episode III, moving from planet to planet, defeating the C.I.S. But then you, like in the movie, start attacking the Jedi in the Jedi Temple. You eventually become the Empire. There are some new features in this, such as the boring, pointless Space Battle, where you take control of Space Ships, attacking the other enemies ship and destroying it. The Space Battle is not fun or exciting. The ships suck, and it matches no where near the excitement of Crimson Skies, or even Star Fox 64.

Perhaps the best new feature in Star Wars Battlefront II, is the ability to use main characters from the movies. Characters such as: Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Yoda, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and Emperor Palpatine are some of the characters you can use. In fact, there is a level in Instant Action (I'll get to that after), where you take the side of the Heroes or Villains and fight in the ultimate war.

Back to the campaign, you may find that you get through it in only a few days. So this game may have low value and be unexcting for some players.

But perhaps the best feature in Star Wars Battlefront II is the two-player mode. You can play the campaign in co-opertave mode, or you can play with or against your friends (or sibilings or whoever your playing with), in the Instant Action mode, which I'll get to next.

Instant Action is where you get to play any map in the game, either by Conquest, Capture the Flag (1 or 2 flag), Hunt, or Assault. Conquest is where you have a maximum amount of troops and you need to wipe out the other side, or take all of their Command Posts. Capture the Flag (1) is when a flag is planted in the middle of the field, and you need to take the flag, and plant in the opponents base in a specific spot. They can kill you, and do the same to you. The game ends when you plant the flag in your opponents base a specific number of times. Capture the Flag (2) is when each side has a flag, and must steal the opponents flag and take it back to your base. The game ends when you plant it in your base a number of times. Hunt is when you either be or beat a different species from the Star Wars Universe, and need to beat you opponent in a specific time. Some of the different species are Gungans, Ewoks, Jawas, and Wampas. Hunt is available wherever these creatures live. Assault is only available in Space and Mos Eisley. Objectives vary in both.

Even though this game has its flaws, it is still recommended to any Star Wars gamers fan.
