PC Multiplayer Review - The Good, The Bad and The ugly

User Rating: 2 | Star Wars Battlefront II PC

THIS IS A PC MULTIPLAYER REVIEW - Battlefront 2005 and 2015 veteran review.

THE GOOD

Graphics are great.

Space battles feel real and are fun to play.(Though wtf is boarding like on the original 2000s series?)

THE BAD

Multiplayer maps have been reduced in size and chokepoints have been created making for a spam vest void of any strategy.

Game feels very much like a console game with you being killed for being out of bounds when you attempt to flank or go behind the enemy. Pretty much the above mentioned choke points are it.

Walker Assault is now 5 minutes of walkers walking in a straight line and is very very dull compared to the last game.

The match system is horrible with many battles being over in 3-4 minutes instead of the traditional 15-25 due to one side being overpowered compared with the enemy team. This makes it boring for both sides.

Blasters and lightsabers in the game are extremely weak on damage. Sniper rifles take 4-5 body shots before killing an enemy, lightsabers likewise take 4-5 hits to kill which makes them feel like a glorified club with no advantage.

THE UGLY

Multiplayer battles have been reduced from the traditional 64 player servers to 40 which coupled with the smaller maps and 2-3 choke points that you are forced to use make for a horrible multiplay exp.

Heroes/Villains have been nerfed to the point of being no more powerful than normal infantry. This is due to last game them being slightly overpowered and new players whined.. Now its the opposite and you spend 20 minutes to get enough points to get a hero only to have him shot dead within about 15 seconds by a single enemy soldier.(who by the way takes you 4-5 hits with a light saber to kill?)

Spawn pickups and jabbas contracts(both awesome choices from previous game) are now gone. Instead you use real money to buy upgrades.. except after day 2 EA stopped allowing this so now there's quite a few players on the game who managed to spend money on the first two days and are now gods in the game with unfair advantage while the rest of players must slooooowly earn everything.

SUMMARY

With nerfed heroes, maps reduced in size, player count reduced from 64 to 40 and the horrible choice by EA to allow players to buy with real $$ upgrades for a couple days(then cancelling this but allowing those people that paid to keep their upgrades creating a huge unbalance issue), very short battles and horrible forced frontal/chokepoint battles this game feels like a cheap console COD game with a star wars skin. Having played Battlefront series since 2005.. This game SUCKS compared to the rest, especially the last. They took what was a really fun battlefield type strategy shooter and turned it into small chokepoint map COD.. I uninstalled it today after playing alpha and giving it a couple months of game time.. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
