At first it seems good, what with all the multi-level battlefronts but it's a shame it's a step backwards in the series!

The star wars battlefront series always has been a deep series with each game having a good replay value but, unfortunately, Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron is a step backwards.

The Idea of having split level battlefronts is a good Idea but in reality is has been strung together very poorly and it is clunky. Every time that you transition into space you have to watch a little cut scene and then you go to a set spawn point withing the level so it's not like you can just fly up where ever you like in the level. Furthermore, in space combat, when you try to enter an enemy capital ship. you can just fly in unlike other games in the series (Battlefront renegade squadron), you have to press a button and watch another cutscene and again spawn in a set place. It just seems like nit picking but it's actually very frustrating and annoying.

The Graphics in the game are poor with blurry textures however the frame rate in the game does stay consistent throughout.

The levels again are bland without much on them except for a few pathways and droids, there isn't much on the maps and compared to previous star wars battlefront games, they are all tiny and extremely unsuited for vehicles which spawn on most levels and can ruin things by being too big.

There is also a lack of maps, with only 12 maps in the game (each one having exactly the same space and ship variants, it's not like you are actually getting 36 maps by saying you have space and ship also! They're all the same). This is less than previous games in the series and disappointing against renagade squadron.

The Games campaign is also very boring and unlike in previous games in the series, in the campaign, you play as a main character and not a soldier. This means that whenever you die, it's game over and you can't respawn. You have to go from the last checkpoint.

All in all, Star Wars battlefront Elite Squadron should be good in the technical side of things with great ideas which have been implemented badly.
It's a shame Elite Squadron doesn't live up to any of it's predecessors and if anything, it's a step back from them.
